MTG is no less racist than she was two months ago, but the fact that she's beefing with trump will cause thousands of white liberals to flock to her nevertheless. sometimes the enemy of your enemy is just everybody's enemy.

But I thought the market being rational was a law of nature
A perfect example of capitalist incentives leading to worse outcomes is checked baggage on planes.

To squeeze more money out of passengers, airlines now charge exorbitant fees for checked bags – so everyone brings carry-on rollers instead, so there’s never enough room in the overhead bins.

Remember that time Steve Bannon destroyed a hot tub with acid that one time in 2015, and then kept emailing back and forth with Epstein right up until 2019
I vaguely remember this - but goddamn

The headline doesn’t do it justice, but i can’t think of a better way to explain the movements of a shredder, carpet & tile extractor, and cement mixer between his homes, at key moments in 2008 and 2019, in just a few words

I used to call it comically evil but it really feels closer to straight up biblical evil at this point.

The rot is so epic and so layered, and so deeply injected into every aspect of our culture and our economy and our politics.

By a very few ultra-powerful people.
I entered 2025 resolved to look at the regime and explicitly tell myself "that is Babylon" and emotional detach when it came to them and their enablers, especially when it came to tech and retailers.

The Epstein emails really pushes that narrative almost to the point of parody, though

Reflexively defending the powerful in the face of damning allegations and revelations is bad, actually.

Your operating assumption should always be that the social, cultural, economic, and political elites are the worst people in the world and don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Bluesky doesn't need a comms team. This site needs a leadership change. Masking bad decisions with professional messaging helps no one. It's better that we know what they really think instead of pretending that this is "good" Twitter. Every time they post, they're showing all of us who they are.

We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.

The thing is that this mostly became an issue in the US because companies pushing it knew the dangers and didn't care; there was money to be made. All of these companies know what they are doing and don't give a shit because irrevocable impacts on society are just the cost of doing business.

HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.
