Don’t know if it even made the news outside Ukraine.

Three combined heat and power plants fully stopped working after last night’s enormous attack. Unclear if anything can be fixed, millions of people are completely without electricity, heating or running water. Before winter.

UofT didn't have a sexual violence policy until 2017. Given my own experiences there, not surprising they don't support survivors.

When I was in undergrad about 15 years ago (geez I'm old) one of the most obnoxious pro-Israel commenters in our student newspaper was a Chinese nationalist.
Never mind that China pays token gestures in the direction of Palestine while maintaining extensive economic and technological ties with Israel. But, anyway, I'm very interested in learning about the Chinese nationalists who are pro-Israel

Based on this government's track record, we can just assume that this will benefit land developers and push more species towards extinction.
The province is creating the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency (OPCA) to "provide centralized leadership, efficient governance, strategic direction and oversight of all conservation authorities." Some conservation authorities will be consolidated, but the province insists no jobs will be lost.

From government policy emphasizing only STEM or trades, to AI, to assholes with MBAs trying to turn every university into fucking McDonald's, it's amazing things aren't even worse. But we're on the edge of a generational downturn in education, and the long-term repercussions might be existential.

I have definitely found this to be true anecdotally, and I am wondering if it would have been true if search was as good as it was 10 years ago, because the quality of search hits has really degraded in the past few years.

I am kind of astonished at how muted the reaction has been so far in a country were people try to get, like, gas stations declared as historic landmarks. Can we at least get Mike Johnson on camera claiming he hasn’t seen these pictures? Or doesn’t know where or what the White House is?
