How did Company Flow never name an album "Werckmeister Harmonies"?
Breaking News: Bela Tarr, a Hungarian director whose long, grim films like “Werckmeister Harmonies” made him an art-house titan, died at 70.

So are they kings or wise men? Because those are basically mutually exclusive categories.

An hour and a half from home, taking my homeless child client to dinner so he can warm up and have a hot meal before he turns himself in on a warrant. It's bullshit that there's no heaven for Jews, because I'm putting in work out here.

Drunk, walking to a party with crew in Manhattan, I saw a McDonald's cup sitting on top of a building standpipe. "Yo," I said, "check out my kung fu," and then, instead of kicking the cup as intended, I just kicked the pipe very hard and spent the rest of the night bleeding inside my shoe.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland

If I had infinite money, I would commission a shot-for-shot remake of "Crash," but with the cast of "Crash."
This is like intending to watch "Crash" (1996, car crash kink) but watching "Crash" (2004, ham-handed race allegory).

As a bilingual lawyer, this is my greatest pet peeve: interpreters, for many (often forgivable) reasons, don't render foreign language statements faithfully, and monolingual decision-makers (judge, prosecutor, jury) are deprived of important information.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, could you please establish an official NYC Mayor account on Bluesky and post everything your office is currently posting on X over here?

And please remove all city accounts from X, which has become a CSAM creation and distribution site?

No money for Musk, ever, please.

A thing I love is that the phrase "hincha pelotas," which means, literally, "ball-sweller" and, practically, someone who is annoying, didn't arise from the literal meaning of the words, even though that seems logical enough (parallel to how in English, people say "don't break my balls"). Instead...

Yesterday at dinner, the six-year-old said to me, earnestly, "Dad, how would you say 'Thank you' in Oregon?"

My six-year-old has developed the habit of running up and hugging us while pressing her face into our butts - it's where her face lands on us. It's loving but sometimes a little startling. We were trying to explain to her that a hug is OK but...

Whenever someone says "socialism is responsible for 100 million deaths in the 20th century," I'd like to tally all the folks who died unnecessarily in that period *not* from socialism - from preventable disease, starvation, violence, wars of conquest, and all the other stuff on capitalism's tab.
