And so concludes my evening scream into the void. I am going to finish a pair of socks tonight!

I don't know if the Epstein vote is a one-off or not, but I've been thinkin of that very thin, translucent sticker film that comes when you order, say, a new monitor. It's devilishly hard to get the first little bit of the corner to separate but once you do, the entire thing pulls off very easily.

Good. GOOD. That is the *least* amount of suffering the man has earned.
donald trump has slept soundly through the most horrific weeks of his tenure. but i don’t think he’s sleeping soundly tonight

I stayed up late and watched it live and it was, so far as I can tell, my generation's moon landing
The moment when 30 million American's received healthcare (2010) The moment when insurance companies had to start covering preexisting conditions, young adults could stay on their family's policy and I could trust that the small print couldn't screw me if I needed serious medical assistance. 🇺🇸

It was oddly validating to see the latest heat map of ICE kidnapping - it's not me! My neighbors are being kidnapped! It's... so, so bad. But at least I'm not imagining how bad it is??

This is the thing that's been just *weighing* on me. They behave like this because WE LET THEM. I'm gonna start blowing my ICE whistle every time one of them says shit like this!
I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.

Same instructions here in Portland. Two elementary school bus stop incidents and I keep a whistle in my pocket.
“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

Amazing, no notes, I do not desire to learn anything else about this story, for it would only detract from the perfection on this headline.

“If you're arguing against us while using our language, we're winning."
–GW Bush advisor Matt Dowd as the proto-fascist “war on terror” raged
Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

If one subscribes to the theory that much of what the admin does is intended to push boundaries (in this case, literally) to test resistance and the law, suddenly Charlotte makes a lot more sense.
Charlotte is not even within the 100-mile “border zone” that CBP claims to have jurisdiction over.

Katie Wilson is Seattle’s next mayor. In a stunning comeback as votes were counted for over of a week, she made up more than seven points to win. This is a major victory for progressives in the city.

This is, I believe, by design and shows the system working exactly as desired
Somewhere out there someone who’s the best at what they do is terrified that they have imposter syndrome while a bunch of barely literate pedophiles are very calmly running the world

First, Portland got a Mayor Wilson. Now, there’s going to be a Mayor Wilson in Seattle. At this rate, every city in America will have a Mayor Wilson by 2050. Is this the future we want????

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Happy Exploding Whale Day! Get out there and make it count.
50 years ago, today, a whale exploded on an Oregon beach. 20 years later, before social media or video sharing sights or smartphones, it would become the first viral Internet video.

We sent it to each other in the mail.

The History of Exploding Whales Is the History of the Internet Itself

My first whale video came in the form of a VHS tape mailed to me by a stranger from the internet.

Revoke my Oregonian card because I don’t like hearing about exploding whales, past or future. I think we should live in awe of those gorgeous, huge creatures who roam the vast sea, blessing it with their songs. It is okay if you find joy in the exploding whale but this is simply my truth.
