It should be possible to heat your house during the winter without also drying out your entire body. Anyone who suggests I drink more water is getting blocked btw

The point of a podcast is to listen to it. The hosts need not gussy themselves up to record it. If I have to put on makeup to be on your “podcast” I’m DECLINING

Cutting property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires. Canceling planned freeway tolls. Pausing local new taxes in the Portland area. We have to keep going to make life more affordable for Oregonians.

A business owner's effort to rebuild a historic Dairy Queen on SE Division and 56th Ave faced problems from the start. Now, the franchisee is duking it out with the city over the inclusion of a drive-thru at the ice cream shop, which he thinks is necessary for the DQ to succeed.

I went deep on some drama over a DQ drive-thru in SE Portland. The franchisee is arguing with the city over his right to include a drive-thru, despite strict zoning rules. It’s sparked debate among neighbors, many of whom are nostalgic for the old DQ, which this business owner demolished in 2019.

Initially included a “fuck you, David Sedaris” here but I took it out because the truth is he still maintains a special place in my heart, even though he sucks now. Thx @christenmccurdy.bsky.social for the recap of the Sedaris New Yorker piece on Portland.

Despite the efforts of tech CEOS, plenty of people are tired of generative AI. A group of Portland artists made their positions on AI known at a recent forum discussion at Mother Foucault's Bookshop. Speakers shared their takes on the machine takeover—and suggested potential ways to push back.

PCEF is still doing exciting things! But they’re kinda doing it outside the public eye now that the City Council isn’t responsible for approving their grant allocations. Here’s a rundown of some of the projects the clean energy fund will pay for in this year’s community grant cycle.
It’s been a tough year for climate work around the country, with the Trump administration slashing funding for programs intended to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the threats of the climate crisis. But Portland's clean energy fund just allocated $64 million to nonprofits for climate projects.

I’m late to this but this is a bad article. Among the major flaws: the journalist—and California lawmakers—treated a 16-year-old girl and her friends as experts on e-bike and traffic safety because of their personal experiences. With respect to teenage girls’ capabilities, they’re not.
Unregulated e-bikes are a growing danger on American streets. In one Bay Area town, a terrible accident finally led to reform. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/30/m...

A successful referral would freeze taxes Dems say they need to fund those positions. #orpol
