All the Ezra Kleins want is to convince the team owners we'll win more games if they just let Marketing change the team's name, mascot, and uniforms right before each match, so opponents' fans become confused into cheering for both teams...and, hopefully, sports as a whole. 🙏🫶

I have made this argument a bunch of times, but the so-called “puriteen” backlash is at least partly a response to the sexual culture of 2000-2016 or so, where tasteless sex scenes were everywhere, and girls & young women who didn’t want to sexualize themselves were considered poor sports

this is partly because of overexposure to porn, and partly because sex scenes in the mid 2000s-2010s (when most young people were growing up) were often rapey and filmed a lot like porn, to the point where GoT clips were immediately posted on pornhub etc
I don't think the problem is per se young people not liking sex scenes, it's the way they immediately equate them with porn in a way that betrays a simultaneous overexposure to pornography and underexposure to depictions of genuine sexual intimacy
my unpopular opinion is that it's weirder that adults care so much that youth don't like sex scenes than youth not liking them.
