I'm reminded of how the Russian Imperial government reacted to false rumors that they had orchestrated a massive pogrom in Moldova in 1903 by going "Wow, what if we actually *did* provide support and political cover to pogromists next time" and then doing that within ten years of the original event.

This could be my old geography major bias talking, but I think this might be one of the biggest underrated structural factors in explaining US politics.
America's not particularly vulnerable to a single, concentrated uprising in its capital for the same reason it's more resistant than those countries are to going across the board fascist.
yeah and that's mostly just cuz we're one of those countries w/ a capital that's like, mostly just the capital and not also the biggest city in the country, like I think Tehran is (and like Paris is, and some other capitals in other countries)

This morning in Minneapolis, an ICE vehicle got stuck on an icy hill in a residential neighborhood. Agents had to push the vehicles out, some almost slipping in the ice themselves.
