My first bread machine loaf (from last Thursday, it's half eaten by now). Oatmeal Buttermilk, because that's what I had on hand. I forgot how good homemade bread is.

Old fashioned oats and dried buttermilk for easy storage and little to no spoilage over time while I experiment with baking bread.

Now that I'm done ranting, help D please. Or if not D, help someone on your timeline. Things are dire for a lot of folks.
I know things are terrible for everyone actually but increasingly, I am aware of how profoundly not OK I am and I should at this point do a lot more than seeing my therapist, but $200 and I can have four therapy appointments, which is something.

Oh, look what I found in my inbox this morning. A plea from a democrat for money. Fuck off and do your job. Save SNAP and Medicaid and the ACA. Stop people from being kidnapped off the streets by masked goons. Fight fascism. Do what we hired you to do. So far your performance review sucks, dude.

100% Agree
I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be
One thing people kind of tell you, but not really, about middle age:

One day you'll be like "oh [thing] looks fun but people will think I'm a loser" about a thing

And then you'll say. Wait a second.

Fuck 'em

Omfg, that's more than my mortgage. No way could I afford that kind of increase. (and I'm damn lucky to even have a mortgage rather than rent)
I thought my new health insurance premium was going to be $350 per month until I got this letter informing me that it would be $1,228.28 PER MONTH. I CURRENTLY PAY $50. Is my math mathing? Is that.... a 2,356.42% increase?

2256.42%????

TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FIFTY SIX POINT FORTY TWO PERCENT😩

omg, yay!!!
Ursula did super well but she's going to get soft in trad publishing where the editors are nice to her.

Anyway! DAGGERBOUND by T Kingfisher! A delightful romp with mild to moderate Ursula-standard horrors and plenty of old friends I have sorely missed. Out next August, pre-order now!

I'm so excited! Flop the bunny is going to their forever home. Someone made the purchase last night and I shipped the little one out this morning. My first real purchase from my web site! 🥰 Now I need to hurry up and knit more, if ME/CFS will kindly cooperate, please.

Good luck to the new Teen Vogue in its quest to cover issues teens really care about, like how to burn a cross
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

One thing I miss, living in the south where it's always hot, is baking bread. So I decided to get myself a bread machine. The cheapest I could find was on Amazon for $69.

Unrelated to duck sweaters, the winds are blowing rather fiercely tonight and I can't sleep. This is a problem because tomorrow is best friend's birthday and I need to be awake and functional.

My friend lives in Michigan where it is already getting quite cold. Or so I hear. He has chickens, geese, ducks, and goats and jas been shopping around for warm sweaters or pj's for them to wear this winter. Being a knitter, my first thought is of course: omg! I must knit a sweater for a duck!

Folks, this is my dear friend Rosemary. Her chosen family has been struggling for quite some time now, partly due to unemployment, partly due to health issues. With the sudden loss of SNAP benefits, things will be getting even more difficult for this family. Can you help my friend?
Should probably make my new pinned be a link to my GFM campaign but want to keep the intro thread connected to the pinned post still too.

While thinking about the No Kings protests, I realized something. Trump isn't acting like a king. He's acting like a CEO. This isn't a monarchy, this is late stage capitalism. America is being treated as a business acquisition. He's stripping it for parts before dumping it like a fucking Toys R Us.

Today was fun: breakfast with best friend, a few hours arts & crafts, chat with mom, No Kings, followed by pizza at our favorite mom & pop place.

Saw an axolotl, a couple chickens with riders, a frog, a unicorn, a crocodile, a taco, and full chicken, lol

Well, Pandora refuses to play me anything but this new album, which I'm not much a fan of, when I listen to the Taylor Swift station so I'm not sure how realistic those streaming statistics are. Are other streaming people listening by choice? Or because they have a free account & get what they get?

The Life of a Showgirl isn't just a streaming success — it has moved a massive number of vinyl LPs. How massive? Let's do some math. n.pr/48qM5Nr
How big a deal are Taylor Swift's vinyl sales, really?
