I hate how fake shit is all over and also how wild reality is because I keep frantically looking up sources for the weird shit my step-dad is reading/listening to and it's really difficult to figure out which things might have some truth to them and which things are wish fulfillment clickbait.

Right, what should be an easy lay-up here of "then perish" might turn into Dems deciding that DHS is essential for their own damned reasons.
I'm not referring to caving here, btw. I can very easily see Senate Dems finding DHS as essential, even the non-FEMA related work.

And yep, gonna need another transfusion tomorrow so another big day at the hospital again.
Chemo day 4 today for mom. And they'll be testing her blood again, so it's possible she'll need more transfusions. We're all hoping the ones she got on Tuesday will be enough for now, though.

The two children who returned to MN today say they saw one of their Valley View schoolmates at a detention center in TX. This is a child whose family was last in contact with the school on January 9. No one has known where they were until now.

Unlike most people On Here, I actually have had to de-escalate a situation with a black bloc group, at an explicitly non-violent organizational march convened by faith leaders here in Philly right after Unite the Right in Charlottesville.

Folks are asking why this sort of behavior is "tolerated" from black bloc and I'd invite them to remember that during Unite the Right, black bloc intervened where cops wouldn't and likely saved the lives of more mainstream-appearing protesters multiple times.

My actual job description is activist and here’s what I tell people in despair all the time: do not underestimate how much harm you can prevent by being just a little bit annoying.
This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.
