The U.S. is mirroring a pattern that has happened in authoritarian regimes around the world. When a government erects barriers to reproductive care, it doesn’t just cause death and suffering for women and their families. Such policies are often a first step in the gradual decline of democracies.
Opinion | Banning Abortion a Hallmark of Authoritarian Regimes
Seda Saluk writes about how U.S. policy on abortion rights has started to mirror patterns seen in authoritarian regimes around the world.

I don't get why people see movies based on the actors in them. I get liking an actor. But when most of these actors are cast on their name and not whether or not they suit the role or movie they're in, then you're just paying to look at them. Which is weird.

That the media is trying to portray this as a win for the bigot is gross and shameful. I miss when it was considered a bad thing when the news media lied to their audiences.

Man, I am so not looking forward to this. We don't have the infrastructure, and MO is one of THE worst states to pick to host an event that expects tens of thousands of international attendees. ICE scum will be lurking around and the city will do nothing about it. Promise.
Kansas City is happy to welcome you for the World Cup. I need to practice the languages of all our visitors like Dutch, Arabic, and more, but know all are welcome. We will see you this summer in Kansas City!

I hate how nerd culture has been infested with rich capitalists. Costume competitions used to be a general participation thing. Now you may as well not bother unless you have thousands of dollars and/or endless time to buy/make a costume that's studio quality.
