That's fair. I usually rely more on directors or writers. Most people probably wouldn't say Al Pacino is a bad actor, but he has some REALLY bad roles too. That's just one example, but I think, more often than not, it doesn't matter how talented an actor is if the person directing them is a flop.

If a director doesn't know how to properly direct, or the script sucks, it doesn't matter how talented they are. There are plenty of examples of award-winning actors also having shit roles because the directors or writing sucked. Even the best actors can't make gold out of slop.
