Last Week Was All About Venezuela, Oil, and Pipelines...Again

Think you're sick of hearing about Trump, Venezuela, and oil?

Well, I'm sick of reporting about it.

But this is important, folks. And not just for the oil.

For Canadian democracy.

Alberta organizes banned book buyback to keep streets safe
Critics have argued that, while the buyback may get some books off the streets, serious readers could simply swap covers, file off ISBN numbers, or even 2D print books at home.

While cities across North America struggle with housing shortages, Edmonton is proving that zoning reform works.

In 2025, for the first time in history, the number of homes permitted in 5-8 unit rowhomes surpassed detached homes. 🧵

Edmonton’s zoning reform is working. In 2025, newly legalized eight-home rowhomes drove a record increase in homebuilding, achieved by redeveloping only 0.39% of properties in mature neighbourhoods.

This is all-cause reporting, but the conclusion suggests at least a portion is "indirect Covid effects".

Every day, I get letters demanding that the federal govt or the GG or the LG “do something” to change or save Alberta. But the only people who can “fix” Alberta are Albertans. There is no magic constitutional genie. The responsibility is on all of us.
The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

By simply being Albertan.

It took a few days but I got through NJB’s video where he completely destroyed John Forester’s books & credibility. JF flooded the zone with BS & sadly he set things back for years.

Highly recommend anyone in safe streets advocacy to watch!
