i was amenable to the idea that a lot of labours bollocks came from relying on focus groups but were that the case then at this point one would have to ask oneself how they managed to assemble a focus group consisting exclusively of concentration camp guards
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

One of my biggest gripes with leftist movements is that they don't really know what they strive for, only what they fight against. If you can't define your goals without what you oppose, you are playing on somebody else's field, and will - eventually - pan out or lose.
My perhaps controversial assessment is that when you share the propaganda of your enemies to call it out or to mock it… you’re still spreading their propaganda and maybe doing exactly what they hope you’ll do.

It's a common thing that people with money/power disregard research that goes against their "ideas". They assume that they have money/power because they are smart, or at least competent at what they do.
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever

So for-profit AI companies have trained on the world's largest collaborative volunteer project and a precious free resource, to make money for their for-profit enterprises. They have crushed traffic to the volunteer project, starving it of donors and volunteers
