Retired librarian. Love books, movies, TV, music. He/him.
Finished another crochet blanket, made of the Pinwheels square (designed by Soledad Iglesias Silva), from the book THE ULTIMATE GRANNY SQUARE SOURCEBOOK, which collects 100 square. They're all one of two specific sizes, providing lots of mix-and-match opportunities.

First crochet project I've finished in more than a year of experiments, stops and starts, and abandoned plans. The pattern is "Something Different," designed by Ineke Mooijenkind. Xmas gift for a nephew who's just moved into his own home for the first time. Photo #2 shows the center motif.

THE TWO OF US (CBS 1981-82). Mimi Kennedy as a single mom/morning TV host; Peter Cook as her butler; Dana Cook as her daughter; Oliver Clark as her agent; Tim Thomerson as her pompous co-host. Loose remake of the British show TWO'S COMPANY.

No one from my high school is even remotely famous. I got mentioned in an LA TIMES theater review many years ago, and was quoted in a VOX article once, which gives me as good a claim as anybody.
who wants to play the “most famous person from your high school” game?

Jimmy. Stewart.

In the 1960s, computer chip factories were built on Navajo land in New Mexico. At his blog, Ken Shirriff looks at the connections between computer chips and traditional Navajo weaving.🧶

Finished today: "The Alchemy of Stars," two collections gathering the winners of the Science Fiction Poetry Association's Rhysling Award from 1978 to 2018. A wide range of styles and topics, and most of it easily accessible even to someone like me, who doesn't read lots of poetry.

Finished today: "Jackalope Wives and Other Stories," T. Kingfisher. Delightful collection, strong influences of American folklore and classic fairy tales. Wide range of styles/tones, from creepy to madcap. There are witches, gods, enchanted animals, and narwhal turds. What's not to like?

Working on a crocheted sweater, and very happy with how this cable panel is turning out; it's not a complicated pattern, but the simplicity is part of what I like. This panel will run up the right front and back of the sweater, meeting at the shoulder.🧶

I've been wanting to get more into Tunisian crochet. I know the basic stitch, but nothing more advanced. Can anyone recommend a good book/stitch guide? I learn better from text/photos than I do from videos, so I'm not looking for YouTube suggestions.
