It is Sunday and I am once again reconsidering whether or not I believe in hell.
ICE now confirming that there is a measles outbreak at the Texas concentration camp where young Liam was held.

Oh my heart
I joined my friend Greg and other cartoonists to draw something to welcome Liam Ramos home, but ~3800 children remain in ICE custody, including at least three students from Liam's school (and 25 parents). Join us at #Comics4Liam !

I just love real America so much: Tracy Wong opened the doors of her restaurant, My Huong Kitchen, for people to take safe refuge from the tear gas and flash bangs, offering water, comfort, and a place to recover.

And that is how you drive down your popularity numbers, even on your true believers and give people reason to defect as you continue your Steven Miller fanfic adventure
Thinking about whoever said that by accepting a meal from people and then arresting them ICE agents broke a cultural taboo that was invented by, like, the first humans to set up a tent

These kinds of human scale, mixed-use Midwest dive bars are illegal to open and operate in most American neighborhoods.

Guys, it is 17° here on paper but it feels like 6 when you go outside.

I want a breakfast sandwich, but not that much.

The Republican has majority stole $1 billion from the District of Columbia, preventing the mayor, the city Council, and citizens from benefiting from the revenue, derived from local taxes.
DFL legislators need to insist on a compensation fund of tens of millions of dollars to offset economic harms of the ICE siege. It infuriates me that Mercado Central has to hold a $500,000 bake sale to hold onto their building. Tens of fucking millions.

More than 34,000 Minnesotans signed up to be trained as ICED observers with various activist groups in recent weeks, many of them since Jan. 7, when a federal agent shot and killed Renée Good.
Thousands of new ICE watchers hit the streets after two killings
Minnesotans outraged by the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti have signed up in large numbers to monitor and protest ICE with other activists.

I’ll give you a tragic and cursed idea: Ryan Murphy’s “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (2029) starring Darren Kris, among others.

It is his most brave and bold political statement since making “Hollywood” for @netflix.com

I hope Tara Westover is able to include this as part of her continuing education.

Not everyone can confront ICE and face death, but many, many, many ordinary folks can become Ribbity frogs and harry the flanks of a corporate.
Among many other protests against ICE today, sit-ins at Target stores were held nationwide this afternoon, calling on the corporation to "stop collaborating with ICE."

Protesters with signs sang songs & chanted softly as customers passed by.

This video is from the downtown Target in Minneapolis.

On the one hand, I agree with pretty much everything. Linda says it in this thread and want to think about it more carefully.

On the other hand, one of the problems with the Atlantic’s pattern of the last decade make any reporting it does on college students to be in presumptive bad faith at best
You know, yes, this is media diet and Netflix and whatever. But part of college — part of study in general — is understanding that not everything is *entertaining* all the time. And part of that is deciding you care about learning things! (1/2)
On a trend us film professors have seen. Free link to “The Film Students Who Can No Longer Sit Through Films” from THE ATLANTIC yesterday.

Since February 1, 2021, the junta has decimated almost every facet of life in Myanmar.

The junta’s impunity needs to end.
