Washington, give SAO a follow! I work there, so obv I'm biased, but ... did you know you have a whole government agency devoted to auditing every other government in our state to ensure protection of public resources? We audit so you don't have to. Give the website a spin and tell me what you think!
FORCE FOR WHAT

WHAT ARE WE DOING? I just cannot stand how this is being accepted like “ok we may go to war in Venezuela”

I don't think it's even right to say the voting public doesn't care. I think the truth is a lot of voters may generally find trans identity moderately confusing but also *none of their business*.

on the other hand, they find an obsession with harming trans people - say it with me - deeply weird.
Spanberger’s GOP foe spent 57% of her ad budget on anti-trans attacks. Spanberger focused on the economy. You see what won. trib.al/fkMmsR4

The simple truth told time and time again in the polls: The public doesn’t care about trans issues. Voters care deeply about the economy, inflation, & prices.

"The goal of these programs is to move families into real work," the Republicans say during the Republican shutdown, as the Republican-run House enters its sixth week of getting paid for not working and the Republican president blows millions on his god-awful Epstein Ballroom.
Q: SNAP has never out of funding in its history. Why were past administration able to find funding to keep it afloat during a shutdown & you can't?

ROLLINS: Under Joe Biden, you see an almost 30% increase in the cost of the SNAP program. The goal of these program is to move families into real work

Saying something over and over again doesn’t make it true. The House is not in session because the Speaker won’t put it in session. This is Republicans’ responsibility. Full stop.
Mike Johnson: "President Trump has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that if there is any way to fund these programs that are drying up, he will do it. If there was any way to fund SNAP during the Democratic shutdown, you can be assured that your commander in chief would do it."

It's not even 11am yet, and federal agents have gassed the northwest side of Chicago twice this morning.

Be informed, stand up for what’s right, do the next right thing, do it loudly. So proud of these regular Americans putting their foot down.
Ah, locals mention the federal court order here, which also requires agents to wear some identification.

Also, quite an image in here: masked, fully-geared-out DHS agents getting screamed at in a residential neighborhood by some dude who is barefoot and in pajama pants.

Objective. Reality. Exists. 🙌🙌🙌 Yes.
"Depends on who you ask" framing is one of the most grating tics in modern political journalism. Objective reality exists and your job is to describe it.
A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

WTAF is he going on about these folks are bananas
RFK Jr: "Somebody showed me a TikTok video of a pregnant woman at 8 months pregnant -- she's an associate professor at the Columbia Medical School -- and she is saying 'F Trump' and gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta. The level of Trump Derangement Syndrome is now a pathology."

If republicans think it’s crucial to keep the government open, they can keep it open without a single democrat. They can change the filibuster rules with a simple majority in the senate. It’s all up to them.

Guys wtf
Trump: "I think it has -- I think it's very bad. They're pumping, it looks like they're pumping into a horse. You have a little child, a little fragile child, and you get a vat of 80 different vaccines, I guess. 80 different blends. And they pump it in. So ideally, a woman won't take Tylenol."

The media environment in the US has degraded so quickly. While Dowd's remarks weren't laudatory, they weren't crass or cheap. There it is folks. The brilliant Dem strategy, according to the genius pundits with the ear of Dem leadership, is to let Trump keep doing everything he's doing but only if we can also help Republicans avoid paying a political price for hurting people long enough to hold the House and Senate in 2026
