Recessions throw young people out of the labour market - exhibit one. If we want to avoid another lost decade for young people (and a continued exodus), we need a youth training, education, job guarantee programme.
Remember: we keep youth unemployment high to 'prevent inflation'. It's ridiculous.

Today is a day - I hope it is a good day.

It's interesting looking at the Oxford Government Covid Response Tracker data set now. Out of the OECD, New Zealand had the 3rd lowest stringency index averaged over 2020-2022 behind Estonia and Iceland. Roughly speaking this a measure of the intensity of public health restrictions over that period.
Oxford Covid Stringency Index for the OECD countries averaged over 2020-2022. New Zealand has the third lowest average stringency, with only Iceland and Estonia below it.

The amazing thing about Musk’s aim to go paid only is how it confirms what was, frankly, already obvious: he does not and never did have a clue about what Twitter’s greatest asset was when he bought it.

That would be the millions of users, some wildly famous, providing all that content for free…
