Maybe social media just isn't a thing anymore.

More importantly, I want it to do all and only what I tell it to do. I don't want IT to be telling ME to do things.

I cannot get over just how actively antagonistic and hostile it has become to use Microsoft products.

I was thrilled to meet with Mayor Michelle Wu (@mayorwu.boston.gov) today at Boston City Hall. I can't think of anyone better to learn from about what it takes to be an effective, progressive big-city mayor.

Early Sunday morning, a driver struck and killed a 38-year-old named Allie who was biking across Beacon Ave S. The driver fled the scene. As a lifelong cyclist who’s had my share of close calls, my heart goes out to Allie’s family and friends.

I don’t actually think SDOT is going to fine you for pruning your street trees to prevent damage. But that’s because if they actually enforced their own rules it would be insane, and everyone knows it. Which makes one wonder why we have these rules in the first place.

I was so sad to hear about the death of a cyclist due to a hit-and-run on Beacon Ave. Allie was a beloved community member, avid biker, & advocate for safer transit & streets. My condolences to their family and friends. But condolences are hollow if we don’t take action to prevent the next tragedy.

Wow! Looks like someone leased out the entire ground floor retail space in the newish Monarch Building in Columbia City across from All the Best/PCC. Workers taking down all the interior walls today.

Any word on what’s going in here?

Ok I’m doing it: Thread of all the unquestionable antisemitism by trump admin and associates, because as a Jew, I refuse to be used to further their cynical assault on civil liberties. 1/x
I'm not going to speak for other Jews, but for me personally: I find it pretty fucking galling for the Trump administration, which is staffed in large part by Nazi sympathizers, to use antisemitism as an excuse for their racism and xenophobia.

Effective immediately, the government says it will begin screening immigrant social media for activity that officials think indicates support for antisemitism.

This is an aside, but there are plenty of "Right" on Bluesky, from Newsmax to MAGA chuds to official Trump administration accounts. We never see those because there is no algorithm to promote them (in fact there is no algorithm to promote anything).

Also every new feature in tech is being called AI so the company appears innovative and attractive to investors but a lot of things currently labeled as AI are not really AI.

More Americans got measles this week than Olivia Nuzzi’s book. Guess which got more press coverage.
1. Measles is ravaging South Carolina.

Over 100 people infected, and hundreds more in quarantine.

In response, RFK Jr., the nation's top public health official, has been SILENT

But it's much worse than that. RFK Jr. and his allies are undermining confidence in the vaccine

The person who was killed last night crossing Beacon Ave on a bike by a hit-and-run driver was named Allie. They were described as a "hard-core cyclist."

The vigil/protest is expected to take over Beacon and Stevens until midnight, if SPD lets that happen.

How much time in council meetings has been spent talking about graffiti and shoplifting vs traffic safety?

The former do not kill constituents like the latter, but I would not be surprised if it was easily twice as much.

I ride my bike along a route where I've seen a dead person in the street, aided another after they were struck by a pickup, and had countless close calls myself

I report all the faults constantly, the blind curves, the wide lanes, we don't even have streetlights
