There are LOTS of different screen reader experiences, but some things to keep in mind:
There's often no scrubber - the only control you have is to restart the reading. Ideally the user will be able to restart just the alt text, but they might have to restart the whole post. Put important things 1st

People oppose bike infrastructure because “not everyone can bike”, but you don’t have to bike to use it. I commonly see mobility scooters on bike infrastructure here too.
It’s typically smoother and wider than the sidewalk. As long as there’s enough room for everyone, it works fine.

Update: San Diego Mayor Staff is working to obtain a permit from Caltrans to remove dedicated bus lanes from part of Park Blvd. Says congestion at freeway on-ramp is motivation.
