Just about every organization in my area does a turkey and dressing fundraiser somewhere between late September and the end of November, and they sell a million plates. The issue is rather that a turkey is still in that awkward stage of being an animal seasonally harvested.
it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.
My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

It remains insane to me that DOGE was treated at the time as an impressive shock and awe accomplishment - “you can’t deny he’s getting stuff done!” - and then instantly memory holed by the press once if became clear it was a total failure by every possible standard including Musk’s own

You can't take "judge not" to such a logical extreme that you disregard temporal justice. We need to stop people from doing bad things and punish people who do bad things so they stop doing bad things. And hopefully repent of doing bad things.

The money is clearly there and willing to be spent. We could be spending it on FIXING our draconian naturalization process, which everyone tells me is the problem. Every anti-immigrant person I know, when not being outright racist, says the legal process is the problem.
