Just got back from my third book tour in the last fourteen months. Pumped to finally lift the curtain on our big, zombie-filled finale, full of twists, scares, humor, and friendship. If you're one of those folks who wait for the whole series to be available before you start, this is the day!

Writers — the ones you know and love, the ones you think of as successful — have sources of income outside that book you read. Most of us are a half-step ahead of the landlord at best, and struggling to maintain health insurance. We figure out other ways to make a buck.
I wrote 12 novels.
Hit #2 on the NYT bestseller list.
Optioned three works for film and TV.
Have close to 20 short fiction works in anthos.
I have 35,000 BSky followers.

Have you seen my jewelry shop that keeps my lights on.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I cannot stress strongly enough how phenomenal a decision it was, and is, to use Safari's "hide distracting items" feature to totally erase the NYT Editorial section of their website from my life.

I can't remember when I started filing Bari Weiss under "this person does not matter to me" but I've largely ignored her for a long time, so this segment was actually wildly helpful for me in understanding her and uh, fucken yikes

This is a far cry from enough, but it's a cry to rally around, in an era where the Republican Party has turned against everything good about America.
The opening and conclusion of the 161-page findings of fact and rulings of law from Young — a Reagan appointee who has already made headlines — will be getting attention.

It is a response to a post card he received, apparently in response to one of his rulings (likely in the NIH funding case):

Court-watchers confirm this cruel ICE agent has been reinstated.

Last week, in the briefest moment of decency, violently throwing a woman to the floor was “beneath the men and women of ICE.”

This week, it’s back to business as usual. The cruelty, after all, is the point.
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.

This is an agent of the US federal government, armed for live-fire combat against a modern army, slamming a passive and nonviolent female candidate for the US Congress into asphalt.

Then walking away without checking if she has injuries, with his identity concealed behind a black facemask.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

The last political column I was allowed to write in the @washingtonpost.com was a criticism of Obama.

His people took issue with my piece, but we were respectful.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

This is how free political speech and respect for debate *actually works*.

Or used to work.

SCOTUS conservatives OK Trump admin's racial profiling of Latinos in low-wage jobs
Five of the six Republican appointees to the Supreme Court wrote nothing Monday. But their actions, and Justice Kavanaugh's concurrence, paint an alarming picture.

It's a rough time for artists, writers and other creators. If you have the means to do so, consider helping out a creator this weekend. Possibly sign up for their Patreon, or buy a commission, or buy their book. If not, maybe just help spread the word about one of their works. Everything helps.
