๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ ICE Out For Good

Join us in the streets this weekend
Weโ€™re mobilizing across the country this weekend to honor Renee Nicole Good, demand accountability for ICEโ€™s killing of Renee, and make visible the human cost of ICEโ€™s terror: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธPEGGY
I'm honored to be endorsed by Indivisible National.

Their No Kings Rallies have brought millions of people together to stand up to authoritarianism.

They understand exactly what kind of leadership & organizing this moment demands. I'm humbled they've put their faith in my leadership in the Senate.
In Minnesota, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan is running for Senate with a record of delivering transformational progress for families and the opportunity to make history as the first Indigenous woman elected to the Senate. We're proud to endorse Peggy because we know she's up for the fight against fascism.

In GA-13, Dr. Jasmine Clark has rooted her campaign in accountability, truth, and a commitment to protecting democracy, healthcare, and public education. We're proud to endorse Dr. Clark because her proven leadership is what we need to beat back authoritarianism and deliver for working families.

We're proud to endorse Brad because we know he will meet this moment with the level of urgency and ferocity we need.

Jeffrey Epstein, a great, great guy. Very innocent and perhaps more innocent than anyone knows. And I had nothing to do with him. But he died like a dog and nobody thought we could do it but we did. They said sir the video will cut out for a few minutes and I said wow. And we'll see what happens

I get this, but here's where I'm at:

Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hatesโ€”first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of colorโ€”& I'm gonna root for them.
I really really want these athletes to have a great experience, be competitive and perhaps win a gold medal, but, honestly, the thought of hearing "USA!USA!USA!" during their games kinda makes me cringe. If we were any other country the IOC would ask us to march under the olympic flag.

it must be annoying to be a 90 year old Republican congressman and have to pretend like you know what's going on anymore. you got into politics to pass laws giving out tax breaks for every horse you own but your groyper staffers are like "you need to condemn a new YA novel about bottom surgery"

โ€œFuckin bitchโ€ really drove it home, and activated an even deeper level of rage. But you see it in the behavior of all these ICE and CBP chuds - to a man they are โ€œthat type of guyโ€ living out a state-sponsored power fantasy. Getting their rocks off by tossing smoke grenades at preschools.

this is a Minnesotan thing, but itโ€™s also a gender thing. Lots of women in MN clock ICE as just the most heavily armed version of โ€œthat type of guyโ€ theyโ€™ve had to deal with their whole lives. And theyโ€™re not tolerating it! So many badass women and femme folk on the front lines for that reason.
โ€œI feel like our whole lives as Minnesotans โ€” Iโ€™m not sure if America feels this way โ€” but itโ€™s always kind of like, โ€˜Donโ€™t even start that kind of thing because you have to live around these people,โ€™โ€ Michele said. โ€œI feel thatโ€™s gone in me personally โ€” I donโ€™t even care if I ruffle feathers.โ€

This cannot be accepted. This is a bullshit move to try and keep the status of the occupation basically unchanged but try and play it off as a compromise
With the immediate removal of 700 federal agents from Minnesota, border czar Tom Homan put the total number of agents remaining in the state at approximately 2,000.

Thatโ€™s still a dramatic increase from the normal immigration and enforcement staffing in Minnesota of around 150 agents.

The party then totally collapsed, many of it's prominent members in prison, and their funding dried up. They were successfully marginalized.

Just thinking about this for no particular reason.

when i was in Greece in 2013, there had recently been a murder of an anti-fascist artist. Everyone knew the neo-nazi Golden Dawn party was behind it. But they actually proved culpability, and ruled the party was a criminal conspiracy and arrested the members of parliament associated with it.

Markwayne Mullin: "I agree with what Lindsey is saying on defunding these sanctuary cities. We should pull our TSA agents out of their airports and not allow their airpot to be classified as international or even a regional hub. We should pull all of our aid."

Early last year I approached Rep Gimenez with an offer to work together to protect immigrants in his district & mine. He rudely told me he had his own strategy & walked off.

Apparently his strategy was to do nothing for over a year to actually stop this.

Miami deserves better.
Gimenez: "We've been warning the administration about the enforcement that's been going on. We thought there should've been a course correction a long time ago, and now I guess it's gonna be forced on us by the Democrats. We should've been focusing on criminals and gang members, not grandmothers."

BREAKING: Judge Jia Cobb issues a TRO blocking DHS Sec Noem's Jan 8 memo purporting to require 7-day notices by members of Congress to perform oversight visits to immigration detention facilities.

this bike ride was both a beautiful display of defiant solidarity, and a promise to the agents still occupying our city that they are about to be absolutely swarmed by ICE Watch on bike patrol.
Epic Unity Ride today in Minneapolis.
Highlights: turnout, families cheering from windows & front doorways, and a beer box.

As usual @bbkogan.bsky.social does a fantastic job breaking down all things budget. Because of the slush fund in the Big Ugly Bill, we canโ€™t turn off ICE by shutting the government down. But we *can* demand justice before giving it one more cent.
Republicans created a slush fund for ICEโ€”CAPโ€™s Bobby Kogan explains how this impacts a potential government shutdown.
