Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

Happy International Mens Day. Men still do the most dangerous jobs. Are more likely to take their own lives. Experience perceived social penalties for being paternal, caring, sensitive etc. So, with consent, hug a man today. Fixing the patriarchy is in the best interests of men too!

No Shabana Mahmood.
It is not.
Global finance tore Britain apart in ‘08. We let them off, let austerity ravage it for years, completely f*cked it with Brexit, then Covid added a rancid cherry.
What’s tearing Britain apart is scaremongering about illegal immigration.
You should be f**king ashamed.

Depressing that the BBC has so little inherent institutional strength, it is kicked about so easily.

This is not good sign for our polity.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

The metre isn’t the same but this reminds me of the A A Milne poem that begins “James James Morrison Morrison” and it’s very pleasing.

When I was a little kid in the 80s, there was this thing called ‘The Hole In The Ozone Layer’. Our teachers taught us about it in school. We all collectively decided it was a Bad Thing, banned CFCs, did some other stuff, and at no point do I remember anyone being called a Woke Maniac.

A whole article about viruses circulating on campus, and no mention of Covid at all, even when it’s having a bit of a wave right now. I know most people aren’t that bothered about it, I know for most people it’s just another virus, but not to mention it at all is weird. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Freshers' flu: Why is it so hard for students to dodge?
It's not the actual flu, and it's rarely serious, but when thousands of students arrive on campus they bring a cocktail of viruses.
