As I read this, I'm thinking about the man I interviewed who had to be hospitalized from the Covid he caught at the poultry processing plant and he got fired for it and he still has long Covid
During the height of the pandemic, Tyson used Palantir to predict Covid-19 infections among meatpacking workers down to a nearly exactly figure. But rather than using this data to increase worker protections, Tyson used it plan for labor shortages + plant closures

Remember that the predominant form of age verification for porn sites — the new mandates passed in nearly every red state in the past few years — is a facial scan coupled with government ID.
New: Videos show ICE/CBP agents are scanning peoples' faces on the street to verify citizenship. ICE has tool to instantly look up unprecedented number of databases with just a photo

Spending a couple hours cutting invasive vines with your neighbors can extend trees’ lives — and in turn, enrich and protect the health of the communities that live alongside them.

Meet some of the volunteers doing this work in Southeast D.C.’s Woodlawn Cemetery:

How local residents are restoring D.C.’s green spaces — and combating the effects of climate change.

Last night DC neighbors showed up at a police checkpoint at 14th & V ST. NW with handwritten signs warning drivers to avoid the block.

After realizing that the community was successfully diverting all traffic, agents packed up the checkpoint and left. #WeKeepUsSafe
People cheer as some federal agents get in their cars and leave.

Very important to note the youth curfews people having been rightfully flagging as horrible were already in place. That’s Mayor Bowser. Not Trump.

Let’s keep this energy after we’ve kicked the feds out.
DC already had evening curfews in effect to keep kids out of Navy Yard and areas of NoMa, mind you. Scores of cops posted up and groups walking around to funnel kids out of the neighborhood and show force.

Now everyone is getting that treatment.

Clean air is a human right.

New England & Quebec, wear an n95 mask outside to stay safe from PM2.5 pollution. It causes heart & lung disease & premature death.

But the problem is global: 99% of humanity lives in places where air pollution exceeds WHO limits.

THIS! A naked face is not an identity unless you get it on camera, and most of the abductions have not been caught on video. A prisoner can't describe a face to a lawyer or loved one over the phone, can't write a face down on a complaint form. Reject the rightwing premise fave covering = violence.
The neck gaiters and other facial coverings worn by ICE are pulling focus partially BECAUSE of population wide stigma against masks. I am confounded by a shortage of popular emphasis on the missing NAMES and BADGE NUMBERS displayed on UNIFORMS.
PSA: There’s a difference between wearing a mask or respirator & wearing a gaiter or face covering to disguise identity. It’s important to discern & communicate this nuance because if you don’t, you might encourage elected officials to ban masks for everyone, which would be a public health disaster.
