If we all had the same skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and abilities, there would be people who would group us by finger length, eye colour, head shape, etc., because they just want to oppress and exploit.

The categories don’t matter to them, it’s all about the oppression.
🚨 Patients are feeling the collapse of healthcare. Today, for the 1st time in my 30 years as a doc, the majority of patients I saw apologized for being sick & needing care. Some had many issues. Exactly none of their needs were frivolous; all were urgent.

This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

Say Hi to Cricket!

She’s around four months old and had been found cold, wet and abandoned. The @cityofcalgary-rss.bsky.social nursed her back to health and now she’s here!

Here she is seeing a TV for probably the first time and trying to understand what a screensaver is all about.

No one likes to see animals die. Here is a very clear round-up of why the ostrich farm (previously a meat production farm) had to be culled: to save birds and humans from this highly pathogenic avian influenza, and to protect BC and Canadian avian farming.

The lesson learned here?

If enough people behave badly, then politicians give up.

Same lesson learned with COVID.

“I am so sorry I need help.”

This is what an elderly retired nurse told me recently. She’s a patient, like all of us. She had devoted her life to help others. She has complex medical issues which had stabilized well until she got COVID and then long-COVID 2 years ago.

With Smith deploying the notwithstanding clause on one front & setting up more…

We asked @duanebratt.bsky.social at our live show for his assessment & whether or not Alberta is becoming more and more authoritarian.

His answer should be required for all Albertans!

Today Elections Alberta requested $13.5 million to be able to administer recalls and referendum.

The UCP committee in charge revised their request to just over $1 million.

And then voted it through.

The UCP just defunded recall/referendum.
