Prime Minister Mark Carney has been asked to join Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” for Gaza’s reconstruction.

And so far Carney hasn’t ruled out joining — in fact, CBC is reporting he’s going to accept.

When you hear the details of this “board,” you probably won’t be happy about that:

Meta has maintained a years-long news blockade of Canada to bully Ottawa into dropping a meager attempt to make the company compensate the journalism organizations it systematically defunded.

It's time Canada stop being so chickenshit and do something about it. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...
Justin Ling: Canadians won’t let the U.S. government boss them around. But U.S. mega-corporations? Sure, why not
For years, Meta has blocked Canadians from accessing news content on its platforms. And for years, Canada has done nothing about this.

The ICE agents claim there are medics on site, but witnesses scream that there are no medics present.

This gets me about Carney's vision for economic development in Canada. Expanding resource production will never save our economy. Canada needs to invest it's resource wealth into more productive industries and specializations. That's the route to prosperity.
So, something we got into a bit for the space book is the idea of resources as the source of wealth, because (a) it's widely believed, and (b) it's a claim used to justify all sorts of outlandish space ideas.

The short version is that resources are a teeny tiny fraction of wealth.

I keep getting the ad for Gemini. Nothing says #AI bubble like google trying to sell Gemini for $27/mo with the use case "you can make elephants that look like watermelon." That's the use case they wanted to show? Yikes.

Terribly stupid idea that will satisfy faux-populist urges to dunk on public servants while simultaneously making the lives of public servants and the service itself so much worse.

Goofy stuff.
