The 2026 Vancouver budget risks imposing cuts to road safety initiatives that we simply can't afford. With so few details being released, we call upon council to amend the budget to direct that essential transportation programs and staff be protected.

Listening to Vancouver Council budget discussion in the background this morning. In response to a question from @seanorr.bsky.social about where they'll be retracting from the city just said they're planning to REMOVE baby changing tables and menstrual product dispensers to save costs. Shameful.

Deep gratitude for the activists and political leaders advancing a Vision Zero agenda. Traffic violence is not inevitable. Stopping it is possible and necessary.

The audacity to vote down a motion about keeping kids safe on Halloween, victim-blame the kids by saying no one should wear black any day...and then put out a Halloween safety PSA wearing all black. Honestly. 🤦

Super disappointed to see council vote this motion down. The evidence for lowering the voting age is absolutely overwhelming. Combined with amending Lucy's safe streets on halloween motion to death, it's been an infuriating morning at Vancouver City Hall

To people looking for a home today, writes @dannyoleksiuk.bsky.social, it matters a great deal whether that home is built next year, or in ten. Re-legalizing small apartment buildings throughout our cities would create more homes faster. www.sightline.org/2025/10/28/t...

At this family friendly event, a lady in an SUV tried to drive through the crowd because her daughter had to get to a soccer game and refused to do a u-turn. This is exactly what we mean when say drivers are entitled in this city. Unreal.
Large turnout today in support of traffic calming on 16th. People shouldn't fear for their safety in their own neighbourhood. Now it's time for the city to act.

Thank you @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social for attending and speaking in support.

SEPTA is already working with billions less in funding than other transit agencies with
lower ridership, and pays more in taxes to the state than it ever gets. Yet the republicans say “Human nature suggests, why should I do anything to help? I don’t ever get any help for my region."🫣🫠
As it turns out, we live in a society of interconnected pieces — and sometimes those pieces are arranged by people committed to making the world a little worse for everyone.
Doomsday For SEPTA Is Bad News For Everyone — Streetsblog USA
Deep cuts to Philadelphia's transit system will have devastating impacts in the City of Brotherly Love — and other cities may be next.

As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re afraid of. If more kids walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school. HT Ian Lockwood.

Today Philly said goodbye to more than 30 bus routes, and is preparing for more cuts and service reductions, a 9pm curfew for subway, 5 regional rail lines cut..all thanks to our state republicans refusal to fund transit for the 6th largest city in the country. whyy.org/articles/sep...
SEPTA cuts: Riders feel a 'sense of loss' during the first day of reduced service
As SEPTA cuts begin, Philadelphians are adjusting to slower commute times. “It is grief, in a sense,” one rider said.
