hilarious that Rubio has to work in a "Mr. President" at the end there to wake him back up
Trump dozes while Marco Rubio speaks to him directly next to him. Just insane optics.

It's that time of year again where I'm continually BAFFLED by other people's music tastes. You think THESE are the best songs/albums of the year??? Is your mind completely BROKEN? Have you even heard all of these other, you know REALLY GOOD records that also exist? I'm pretty sure you HAVE NOT!

amazing but at the same time shows that the original Super 35 negatives (the first four seasons were shot on film) were used for this scanning, which is great other than that nobody seems to have realized that it was a TV show and not a movie and that every scene would have been cropped 21/9 -> 16/9
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

I'm going to try and recommend one really good album from 2025 that I don't enough people have heard every day this month in this thread.

Just watched the last episode of The Chair Company and it has to be one of the most insane/baffling pieces of writing I've ever seen made into an actual TV show. In a culture consumed by conspiracy, it hits exactly right. Highly recommended, just don't expect the myriad mysteries to ever be solved.

My fav new album this week is How You Been, the second one from the LA-based collective SML. It’s improvised and they have a sax player, so I guess you could call it jazz, but it’s also afrobeat and electronics and you never know where the next track is going

This is a fascinating & kind of terrifying piece, the way it rules out various reasons for collapse you might guess (famine, climate) to leave the impression these people just decided to slaughter each other
Pointed out by my friend @carloshasanax.bsky.social . There's something weird and unsettling about a fairly homogeneous culture spread out across Europe that then collapses into an orgy of genocide.

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

My fav new album this week is Fernande, Cecile by the Belgian 🇧🇪 musician Natasha Pirard. Produced, mixed and released by the Soulwax brothers, it is never nevertheless a deeply personal ambient project (synth, violin, voice), named after and inspired by Pirard’s grandmother and mother.
