it's something when a super-deluxe reissue reminds you of just how bad the original album was. Feel like "Who Are You" has coasted on an unjustified rep of being "ok 2nd-tier Who" for decades--it's much worse!

As it happens, I recall spotting Meg White at a Love with Arthur Lee show at Detroit’s Magic Stick back in 2002.
In his Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction speech, Jack White shouted out over 30 acts that inspired the White Stripes – none of whom have been inducted

(Adding this to main thread so it doesn’t get lost.) Gilson also tried out for Wings. Here he is talking about it in an interview with the Daily Mirror, Aug 78.
“I’m not in the slightest bit disappointed that I didn’t get to join Wings. I don’t rate McCartney’s music very much these days, anyway.”

Gutted to learn Gilson Lavis has left the material world. Squeeze has been such a formative influence & inspiration on me since I was a teenager, and it was a privilege to have seen him play with them live so many times (and with Jools Holland solo, where I took this). An incredible drummer. RIP 🙏🥁

40 years old now. The first 'box set' that my family owned & my intro, at 13 or so, to Dylan. One thing about it was just how *well-sequenced* it was, esp the LP sides: my mind still hears these some of these songs in "Biograph order" (like that amazing live '75 Isis-Caribbean Wind-Up to Me stretch)
