Then quoted the first, for what the hey
And being perhaps the wrongest one
Because it annoyed me and ruined my day
My followers should hear what I would say
And drag the OP once I was done,

And both that morning equally lay
With screenshots of awful takes galore
Oh, I stewed on both for another day!
Yet living rent-free in my matter gray,
The outrage bait had prevailed once more.

I shall be posting this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two posts diverged on my screen, and I—
I took the bait, I hit reply,
And that has made zero difference.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

that’s funny because im introducing a bill that allows me to repossess the assets of companies who ghost me after two interviews
House Bill 395 would create an online registry of applicants who don’t show up to job interviews without notice. The bill tasks the Department of Job and Family Services with making a simple way of reporting applicants who don’t show up. https://nbc4i.co/4frqCVZ?utm_medium=social&utm_source=bluesky_

Even if you assume the legitimacy of ICE operations, the idea that a fucking truck-mounted machine gun is necessary to carry them out is insane.

This is about intimidation. This is them letting us know that the streets of the United States have been militarized.

Eric Adams jeopardized his whole career and was indicted for allegedly receiving handouts from foreign officials that included discounted Turkish airline tickets, hotel stays, and free lunches.
Commenting on Mamdani, Eric Adams says "there's nothing dignified" about a "handout."

"New Yorkers are not looking for someone just to give them a handout."

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

This is backdoor discrimination for admissions.

Think about who in society is profiled as "angry" or "shrill" based solely on their race or gender, and who is perceived as "assertive".

Consider how comfort and privilege make it much easier to be "civil" in the first place, with nothing at stake.
Some of the most elite colleges in the US are making “civility transcripts” part of the admissions process.

Tone-policing as university policy.

Just call it the Self-Inflicted Wound Era, when we took a bunch of stuff that was working largely fine (vaccines, weather monitoring, friendly relations with like 175 countries, cancer research, renewable energy credits, the FAA, global trade, etc etc) and just broke them for giggles

As I discussed in Talking Climate last year, research shows a four-day work week boosts productivity and well-being — AND cuts carbon! One study, for example, found a 10% drop in hours = 8.6% drop in emissions. So Jack's question below is a good one: why aren't we advocating for this more?
