Every single semester, I make sure to include a module on the histories of vaccination, anti-vaccination and smallpox in human history in the courses I teach if it works.

three kids from my fOlks' high school caught polio. One died, one recovered, one was permanently disabled. No one who didn't live through it understands the terror it caused and how people lined up for the vaccine.
