I’m tired of the Left having the best arguments for a civil society and still losing. Here’s a framework to focus scattered (or non-existent) Dem messaging: Who Benefits?
Democracy/Constitution—those are heady ideas. They assume education or exposure people surviving day to day may not have had.

James Talarico: Why do we have a trillionaire when veterans are sleeping on the streets? I’m all for success, but this is not success. This is hoarding. The reason poverty still exists in the wealthiest country in history is not because we can’t feed the poor. It’s because we can’t satisfy the rich

Southridge High students walked out in solidarity today—joining a wave of young people refusing to be silent while ICE storms their communities. After months of armed, masked agents targeting teens, they’re drawing a line: We protect each other. We show up. And we won’t let fear decide our future.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

Today I learned that Wilhoit's Maxim— "Under conservatism, there are in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, and out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect"— was enshrined in Nazi Germany under the "Dual State Theory."

The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

A commonly-misunderstood aspect of computer security is that you are battling computers.

No. That is not right at all. Computers are barely involved.

You are battling humans who eat apathy and coordination problems.

And while he is upturning the consensus on vaccines and eroding any remaining public trust in science, the NYT, Vanity Fair etc are laundering this man's reputation and impact as some kind of romantic figure, when he is truly dangerous.
He may not lob bombs, but his death toll will be significant.
Today RFK Jr. both suggested that aluminum adjuvants in vaccines cause peanut allergies *and* admitted there are no data to support this hypothesis, so he wants to find some.

Like if you took the scientific method, turned it backward and inside out and made it puke, you’d get RFK Jr.’s thoughts.

PLEASE do not cave on the shutdown without an enforceable win.

All the political leverage is on your side right now. You cannot make a deal with unreliable counterparties.

DO NOT CAVE.

Right now, Dems are holding the line on the shut down. They have reasons, and they are good ones. Why is there no serious whole-team effort to explain these reasons, and the stakes, every single day?

GOP blame Dems for it, spread untruths about Dem reasoning & policy positions anyway.

RAJU: Last week you were very critical of Biden's use of the autopen. But Trump admitted on 60 Minutes to not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire who pleaded guilty to money laundering. Does that also concern you?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that. I didn't see it. I'm not sure.
