This is good. Switching to Rust from Java won't just fix performance problems, it will adjust your assumptions about what causes performance problems in the first place.

Rust Didn’t Fix Performance. It Fixed Our Assumptions.
We dropped p99 latency by 18% without touching a single line of Rust code.

I don't really think I can endorse this. I don't do anything weird with my desktop, but I've hit enough snag and glitches that I don't know if I could recommend Linux without a local expert on hand.

On the other hand, I do treasure my privacy and independence.

I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop
Now if you don't mind I'm going to delete the root folder and see what happens.

Times were better then. I miss my Amiga sometimes. The 680x0 chipset was so much easier to understand then x86 when I was learning micro assembly.

Let's not ignore that Trump also knew damn well that he trafficked young women from Mar-a-Lago to Jeffrey Epstein.

The mutual criminality theory stands close scrutiny.

So the ostensible leader of this country just bombed a major civilian center and illegally kidnapped a foreign head of state under a bullshit lie of an excuse of a "drug war" to cover up a grab for oil reserves.

I hope John Roberts wakes up screaming every night for the rest of his life.

It was never about the bathrooms, privacy, or safety, they simply don't want queer people to exist.

It’s almost like green energy is the only way forward and a handful of oil barons are doing everything in their power to keep that from happening so they can get even richer at the cost of literally everything else in the world.
Wall Street’s biggest banks made more money financing green projects than they did from working with fossil fuel companies for a fourth straight year, even as they faced ongoing pressure to pull back from the business

Republicans are so deep in denial about the falling price of solar + battery that they are suing investment companies for making "misleading claims about the cost of coal."

This delusion has become a central defining trait of American politics. Imaginary monsters — other people who are imagined to favor kitten-burning or other monstrous cruelties — are a greater focus of American politics than jobs, taxes, highways and bridges, or environmental protection.

This. “I will not apologize for [banal stance]” tells us nothing about who you are and what you believe except that your life is governed by a perpetual argument with imaginary voices in your head.

This is the anti-kitten-burning coalition’s theme song.
By itself this would just be sort of tacky and inappropriate for a news organization, but “and make no apologies for saying so” is the real tell.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”
