Confirmed: Earlier this morning a photog overheard agents inside the parking garage say “dismissed,” believed to be calling off their planned mass raid.

A source tells me they had planned for *hundreds* of agents to flood Canal St. They got flooded instead.

NYC’s density really working against ICE today, much easier for a ton of people to swarm and shut them down once they realized what was going on

great fucking work everyone

“The average speed [of the upcoming Finch LRT] is slower than the 36 Finch bus during some periods, a rather poor showing for a rail line on its own reserved lane.”
The TTC has published the schedule for 6 Finch West, and the travel times/speeds are not impressive compared to the existing bus service. stevemunro.ca/2025/11/28/6...

I think it's shameful that during a second Trump administration, and after NYC voters rejected a return to moderate, conciliatory governance, that a Democrat would tout the entirety of the Council's Republican caucus as her supporters.
Menin says she'll work with Mamdani "on a shared agenda that makes New York more affordable."

GOP members backing Menin, tho, are likely to look to her to be a check on Mamdani. Vickie Paladino said she's with Menin because she "understands all perspectives." www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/26/j...

By contrast, if you ask what the Democratic Party stands for, the top answers - from both liberals and conservatives - will often be things that the Democratic party has never itself actually supported ("open borders", "pronouns", "DEI").

As @anildash.com wrote on Nov 5th, Zohran has been so clear and consistent with his messaging that even his *opponents* typically repeat his top 3 slogans† verbatim when criticizing them.

There's no doubt what he stands for!

The thing about being clear about your agenda is not that you can't make strategic compromises at the edges to get things done. But they have to be strategic: things that advance your overall philosophy, rather than muddy the waters about what you stand for or casting doubt on what you'll fight for.

In the grand scheme of things, this meeting was Tremendous Content, and like most Tremendous Content, it's Coke Zero politics. Mamdani comes out way ahead, Trump made a fool of his viziers and his strongest soldiers, and none of this will matter next week.

if you could keep Mamdani around the White House to talk to him all day you could probably get him to do a bunch of good shit, the problem is that after this meeting the next guy in the room is Stephen Miller

he’ll be posting unhinged shit about Zohran again by tomorrow

Andy Harris's safe district exists as it does primarily because former no. 2 ranked House Democrat Steny Hoyer doesn't want a majority-minority district he could lose in a primary
“We can’t do congressional restricting because it could give our primary challengers more time to campaign against us” … is exactly why these Maryland Dems deserve to be primaried.

If they can’t be persuaded to put fighting back against Republican power grabs ahead of self interest, they need to go
also from this article: anti-redistricting Sen. Ben Kramer (D-Montgomery County) said that he and other state senators are backing Ferguson's opposition to redistricting because they're afraid of giving their primary challengers more time to campaign against them

Not a criticism of Mamdani in particular, but as long as we allow massively funded, heavily armed right-wing paramilitaries to have veto power over every aspect of public policy, it will be impossible to enact even the most basic social democratic reforms that a lot of liberals say they want.
Before his election, Mamdani was adamant: The CCRB should get final say in NYPD discplinary cases. Now, after retaining Tisch as NYPD commish, Mamdani's changing his tune, saying he's mainly focused on ensuring CCRB's "recommendations" are "taken seriously." www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/20/m...

One of the best things about electing an "inexperienced" candidate is that they simply haven't had the time to rack up all the to-be-paid favors that get cashed out via these jobs. Can you imagine what a Cuomo mayoralty would've looked like? Every job would be his rolodex going back to the mid-80s

Mikie also got an essentially identical margin against a much stronger opponent than Spanberger’s.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

My actual position is that this is a fascist occupied government and giving them more money, at least without actionable restraints on their power, should not happen.

I understand that this is an extreme position. But I was hoping the Democrats would at least eke out a small victory.
