If you think white people experience racism, you haven't even begun to do the work & will do more harm than any good to liberation. You have a responsibility to do the work & manage your own fragility instead of demanding marginalized people do it for you.

This is so incredibly disappointing (albeit not entirely surprising from Stewart). I mask to protect people in my community who are at risk and I do it to manage my anxiety in crowded spaces and if you have a derisive opinion about this you can mind your own business and fuck off straight to hell.
Dear Jon Stewart c/o @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social
I recently watched, with great surprise and disappointment, a weeklyshowpodcast segment in which you and other "personalities," gleefully mocked and derided the relatively small subset of individuals who continue to wear a face mask in public.

The most unsurprising part of this article: “[Gov. Gavin] Newsom said a wealth tax was not pragmatic.”

You can leave, too, Gavin - we won’t miss you!
Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

From @sandyernestallen.bsky.social some counter programming for trans people who may be struggling today.

Officially, seven people have died in ICE detention this month. Thinking about the way the Trump admin vanishes both people and data, I suspect the real number is higher.

The judge also ordered that teachers have a right to misgender trans youth even when the parents know of and are supportive of their trans child. Just in case you thought this was actually about parental rights.
24 Dec 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- Judge overturns CA school policy on outing trans kids, rules parents have right to know & teachers a right to tell them but no mention of child's rights. Case likely bound for Supremes. Weirdly CA law allows abortion w/o parental notification.
Federal judge rules California teachers are allowed to ‘out’ transgender students to parents
The ruling applies to all public schools in California and is a victory for two teachers who claimed that district policies violated their constitutional free speech and religious rights.

The dangers of putting on the court a rapist who has never accepted that he has wronged or violated another person, and who has certainly never grown beyond the narcissistic arrogation of determining when and whether others have consented to intrusions upon their privacy, autonomy, and freedom.

Thing is: this should have been obvious BEFORE regulators greenlit Waymo.

Having business be the tail that wags the dog of government--as neoliberal ideology would have it--simply privatizes gains and sticks ordinary people with the costs of being corporate guinea pigs.
Autonomous vehicles that are unable to adapt to emergencies present a risk to our public safety. With such vehicles being considered for deployment in the East Bay, more must first be done to ensure they will operate safely when the unexpected happens.

I don't ever want to hear "what if she were your daughter" again. Statistically the person most likely to abuse a daughter is a man known to her. People defending a President, a man they don't know, will be worse with a husband, father, brother, son, or friend. We have their answer. So do daughters.

By the way, Kavanaugh saying this now shows he knew his prior ruling was lawless and without justification.
Also, Justice Kavanaugh sounds like he really, really wants a second try at his decision authorizing Kavanaugh Stops.

He's now insisting that immigration enforcement should not be like EXACTLY WHAT IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT IS LIKE UNDER TRUMP'S THUGGERY.

Bari Weiss was right about how to improve the “60 Minutes” CECOT report, Graeme Wood argues—but her “drama-detector, so refined when seeking out news stories, seems to have failed her when avoiding it in her own newsroom.”

ABA is conversion therapy, full stop
ABA is NOT the 'gold standard of autism care.' The lack of autistic staffers is showing here and with so many devastating Medicaid cuts to programs that serve children, focusing on a controversial one targeting autistics in this political climate is a loaded choice.
It's the 'gold standard' in autism care. Why are states reining it in?
Budget shortfalls and nearly $1 trillion in looming federal Medicaid cuts have prompted states to rein in spending on a widely embraced autism therapy, pinching families who depend on the services.
