It's much simpler than that. The Boy Scouts aren't maximally cruel to trans kids and so Republicans believe it should be destroyed.

Every Democrat in Congress should put out a video saying troops have an obligation to refuse unlawful orders. Make them prosecute all of you. This isn't a close call.

I'd add Republicans too if I thought any of them had the courage to actually cross Trump on this.
Hegseth is now threatening to recall Sen. Mark Kelly to active duty in order to court martial him.

I'm not sure what it's gonna take for people to realize that being subject to a sick burn in a judicial opinion is not something that will dissuade Trump or his cronies. They will push and push and try again and again until something sticks unless they are sanctioned and punished!

When this happens it is really important to put another sign in the same spot right away. It will be very demoralizing to them.
An ICE agent was caught removing a sign marking an ICE kidnapping in DC last week! Do we think he did it out of anger, embarrassment, or most appropriately shame? If you think what you’re doing is right, why are you trying to hide the evidence? 👀

We all agree that this feature is not long for our world, right?
X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

You can bully companies into dropping DEI programs, and you can force the public library to pull books with queer characters. But you can’t, in the end, force other people to approve of your bigotry, which is what they really want.

Why care about these Maxims? It is a waste of time & resources to prioritize sex-essentialist research when social & structural factors play significant roles in creating disparities. Robust citation practices, examining denominators, & considering alt. hypotheses make better science. (11/12)

He thinks it's wrong for a reporter to ask "an insubordinate question" because in his mind -- and in most of his experience -- White House reporters are usually very submissive to authority.
Q: Why wait for Congress to release the Epstein files? Why not just do it now?

TRUMP: It's not the question that I mind. It's your attitude. I think you're a terrible reporter. It's the way you ask these questions. You start off with a man who's highly respected asking him an insubordinate question

An underrated part of our misinformation problem: It's not just that we're awash in deliberate propaganda from ideologues and hacks. Huge, huge numbers of people are primarily getting their political news from morons. They're not deliberately lying; they just pull stuff out of their ass on stream.
There are nearly 40,000 people watching Asmongold stream about the Epstein files vote right now.

Wild reading chatters ask him questions like how long it will take to see all the files... and he pulls "6 months" out of nowhere... just bonkers stuff.

as a reporter, the part of this that i’ve simply never understood is how the next person to ask a question when he does something like this doesn’t simply repeat the question that set him off. it’s not just solidarity with your colleague, it’s an important question that remains worth asking
I’m not going to pretend it’s easy to say something in the moment when you witness the president do this and you’re aboard Air Force One with all the uniformed officers and secret service and fancy wood accents, but this is really an instance where you should. people.com/donald-trump...

Whatever the number is, it’s terrifying because the American people have proven over and over again that there is literally nothing the Republican Party can do to lose their trust and that every 4-8 years they will be returned to power because some Democrat used the wrong email server or whatever.
My assessment is also that groyper staffers in DC are "a loud minority but not to the double digits." I'd even doubt 5%. Nick himself recently admitted his people aren't in DC- see video below. Rod Dreher is conflating 'hard-right' with 'groyper'.

Democrats do have an extraordinary ability to simply accept their opponents’ favorite attacks against them as straightforward truths.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25

Unfortunately you have to primary everyone, not just because they don't have what it takes to fight, but because they don't have what it takes to rebuild. Last thing you want is them to win by default and then tread water until the next Trump comes to power
what the moment calls for is fighters instead of gormless boobs who should have retired 30 years ago. policy differences can be hashed out later, everyone can agree that Musk and Trump must be stopped and democracy restored
