In a moment where RFK Jr is taking away life-saving vaccines and spreading health misinformation on an unprecedented scale, making comments that stigmatize other important layers of public health protections like mask wearing is not the play.

will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other

young people have always looked for a safe place to put their secrets that can’t judge their feelings! it’s why kids like to keep diaries. the difference is that a notebook will never actively encourage mental illness or explicitly validate suicidal ideation
i wonder if anyone is going to ask the other question: why are kids confiding in AI how they feel about *insert mental health topic* and not confiding in a real person? or are we just going to use this as another “AI bad” thing and move on?

getting rid of AI won’t fix the problems that got us here

This year produced the single largest mass mobilizations in the country's history. Its entire history. I think that there are people who would say that this isn't true EVEN AS THEY ARE LIVING THROUGH THOSE MOBILIZATIONS. It's something to see.

This … isn’t true though? The segment wasn’t censored due to government interference, it was internal meddling. If the segment was pulled any earlier it would have been censored in Canada too.

The Post was around 50% as deranged in its de Blasio coverage, but he didn’t come into office with the massive outside force that Mamdani is bringing. Gonna be a test of the paper’s influence; it beats him up every second but he’s got a posse saying “shut the fuck up.”
Insane NY Post column suggesting that the new First Lady who is sad about leaving her longtime neighbors in a not fancy NYC neighborhood is an ungrateful brown woman

“Because our culture often treats visibility as a moral benchmark. If you are out, you are brave. If you are not, you are behind. But that binary ignores the reality of systems that still demand compliance before they offer protection.”

for the longest time on twitter my bio was “the real racist” as a joke about this dynamic.
And that’s part of the problem a lot of people assume Black thinkers are simply acting out of revenge and hatred against white people rather than examining and exploring the dynamics within their communities and larger context.

I've started to see arguments that we have to get used to AI Slop coding even if it isn't great, because it's fast. Humans could go faster, too, if they're allowed to turn in stuff that only sometimes works. Such a fascinating double standard that will in no way come back to haunt, naw.

I also noticed that the airport now has signs only in Spanish that tell people they can get $1000 for "self deportacion" and for each member of their family they also convince to 'self deport'

Disgusting

This is funny, but it's also extremely accurate.

I've spoken with players who went up against Wemby in Europe, and they all say the same thing. The court shrinks.

It's preposterously difficult to get any offensive momentum going when he's out there.
J-Dub is so real for this. When asked what about the Spurs took the Thunder out of their game... 👽

No, it makes sense that someone who plays and enjoys hockey has such little knowledge and yet animosity towards basketball. The exceptional thing about Wemby is that he’s doing things people his height usually can’t. Being too tall in the NBA is often a detriment, especially in the small ball era.

Teacher here:

Teachers absolutely DO NOT need AI to make their jobs easier.

We need good high-quality curriculum (costs money)
We need resources and supplies (costs money)
We need smaller class sizes (costs money)

We don't need AI slop substituting for any of that.

I’ve heard most journalists and politicians say that Trump hasn’t been directly accused of wrongdoing or implicated in the Epstein Files.

But, there are repeated instances of Trump being directly named as a perpetrator—by victims and by Epstein. It’s not circumstantial, it’s direct.
