WELKER: What is your message to Jewish New Yorkers who feel you won't be tough enough in your response to antisemitism?

MAMDANI: That I am looking forward to being the next mayor and fulfilling the commitment I've made to Jewish New Yorkers to not only protect them but to celebrate and cherish them

We've gotten $500 from DC donors today!

Can you pitch in (or ask a friend) to help us get to $750 by the end of the day and $3,200 by the end of the month?

Our first 1,000+ door day of the campaign! 🚪🍂

Thank you to everyone who came out to canvass in Columbia Heights! We will win a DC and a Ward 1 that works for the people, not for billionaires or developers.

Door by door. Voter by voter.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our FIRST CANVASS EVER! 🚪

Such a beautiful, spooky fall day to talk to voters about how our campaign will fight to lower the cost of living and defend DC, and to hear from people about what they want to see in Ward 1. ✊🏾🍂💀

This would strip *thousands* of DC residents who live in 2-4 unit buildings of their TOPA rights.

TOPA is the first right to buy your home — a key tenant right in DC.

DC residents had NO opportunity to testify on this because it was a last-minute amendment to the bill.

No one should support this.
Tomorrow the D.C. Council will take a final vote on the RENTAL Act, which would speed up some evictions and exempt newer buildings from the law that gives tenants first right to buy. Also: CM Anita Bonds' amendment to exempt 2-4 unit buildings from TOPA. Rationale is below.

Time and again, members of UNITE HERE Locals 25 & 23 have fought for a voice on the job, better pay & benefits, and dignity.

Yesterday, I met with members across the region and in Ward 1 specifically to talk about what a pro-labor Council could look like. When we fight, we win! ✊🏾

raising $40,433 entirely through small-dollar donations (averaging just $35!) in less than two months is absolutely NUTS 😭😭😭 people are ready to elect a real fighter and working class champion in ward 1!! 🩷🧡✊🏽

Our first financial report is in!

This campaign is about all of us. The single mother struggling to make rent. The child scared for their immigrant father. The couple scraping together money for childcare.

We’re fighting for a better DC. And we can’t do it without you. ✊🏽🔥

What a night! ✨

First, we stopped by the @dclatinocaucus.bsky.social mixer at La Cosecha to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Then, we had a house party in Mount Pleasant to meet neighbors and hear what they hope to see from a councilmember. Thank you Irene, Caleb, and Rami for hosting!

Workers are the backbone of DC. But for too long, it's been a struggle to get by and now, labor is under attack.

DC for Workers, by Workers is our new policy platform to strengthen workers' rights, support unions, raise the wage, increase benefits, and keep bad actors in check.

“good news, we’ve created the playroom that tells kids whatever they want to hear and makes them not care about their parents from the seminal Ray Bradbury short story, Don’t Create the Playroom That Tells Kids Whatever They Want to Hear and Makes Them Not Care About Their Parents”
Some parents are letting their kids talk to ChatGPT in the guise of characters. Some are using it to tell bedtime stories or create coloring books.

"My son thinks ChatGPT is the coolest train loving person in the world. The bar is set so high now I am never going to be able to compete with that.”
‘My son genuinely believed it was real’: Parents are letting little kids play with AI. Are they wrong?
Some believe AI can spark their child’s imagination through personalized stories and generative images. Scientists are wary of its affect on creativity

Nadeau blaming the Uncommitted campaign for Trump is such tired bullshit. Uncommitted voters, of which I am one, were largely loyal Democrats who wanted to influence their party and were all but expelled for their tenacity.
In a preview of the bruising fights to come, Nadeau has already begun attacking @aparnafordc.bsky.social, the former DSA organizer, over her pro-Palestinian advocacy.

Raj has rejected her comments, saying she's a loyal Democrat and they're reminiscent of Trump's attempts to divide the left.

The Mayor’s office explicitly confirms what we’ve seen on the ground: MPD continue to be collaborators.

This is absolutely unacceptable, and we have the local power to stop this.

this article shows how critical local partnerships are for ICE to hit their numbers, which is why you should keep the pressure on your local city governments to refuse cooperation with them
ICE had made only 85 arrests in Washington from Jan. 20 through the end of July. But from early August until mid-September, ICE made around 1,200 arrests, according to officials with knowledge of the data.

We detail how that happened:

The cause of labor is the hope of the world!

Throughout history, we’ve seen labor defeat billionaires, bad bosses, and oligarchs to guarantee rights for all of us. The current occupation in DC is another moment showing that we need the force of organized labor to defeat fascism.
