People are being forced out of DC. The cost of living is too high, and Trump is waging an all-out assault on the District.

It should be easier and more affordable to build a life here.

That's why I’m running for DC Council in Ward 1.

AOC: "It is unconscionable that what we are debating right now is legislation that will give 8 senators over $1 million a piece & we're robbing people of their food assistance & healthcare to pay for it. How can we vote to enrich ourselves by stealing from the American people?"

Honored to join @afroamcivilwar.org.web.brid.gy this #VeteransDay morning to read the names of Black soldiers who fought for liberation.

We honor all veterans and their legacy as we continue to organize for a country where housing, healthcare, and safety are rights – not privileges.

Health care costs will skyrocket, people will lose coverage, and the transfer of wealth from the poor to the ultrarich will continue.

DC has faced the brunt of the shutdown, but federal workers are still resolute in calling on Dems to hold the line. Where is our fight?

Our first 1,000+ door day of the campaign! 🚪🍂

Thank you to everyone who came out to canvass in Columbia Heights! We will win a DC and a Ward 1 that works for the people, not for billionaires or developers.

Door by door. Voter by voter.

When starving children as extortion to give rich people more money is your *best* idea, you shouldn’t have any power to affect other people anymore.

So many great conversations and so much fun at our childcare & coffee meetup! 🌈🍂🫧

The average cost of childcare in DC is $22,000 / year per child. If we want to keep families in DC, we need free childcare for every family and better pay for childcare workers.

Across the country (and in NYC), working class champions are proving that it’s not just possible, but that it’s necessary to fight for people over profit.

Now let’s bring that fight to DC:

It is shameful that we have to constantly defend our communities from not just ICE, but from our own mayor.

We deserve leaders who will fight for us and defend sanctuary, not give us up.
Interesting tidbit: Despite the D.C. Council rejecting @mayorbowser.dc.gov's attempt to repeal the city's sanctuary city law (which limits local cooperation on federal immigration enforcement) over the summer, she pitched the idea to lawmakers again last month.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our FIRST CANVASS EVER! 🚪

Such a beautiful, spooky fall day to talk to voters about how our campaign will fight to lower the cost of living and defend DC, and to hear from people about what they want to see in Ward 1. ✊🏾🍂💀

Had a great time chatting with Champlain Courts tonight! ✌🏾🎃❤️

Co-ops are a huge part of how we maintain affordable housing and make it possible for long term residents to stay in the District.

Last night, we had a labor-focused house party! 💕

Working people make DC run, not billionaires, not corporations, and not the Trump administration. As a union member, I will always fight for workers’ right to organize, for protections on the job, and for fair pay & benefits. ✊🏾

First it was single family, then it was new builds, now 2-4 units. The single greatest tool we have for preserving affordable housing and building generation wealth. . All sales going forward will be to be venture capital firms and private equity. This major door to homeownership closed.
Lewis George's amendment fails on a 9-4 vote. And thus, the D.C. Council just exempted almost all 2-4 unit buildings in the city from TOPA. (Which wasn't initially included in the underlying RENTAL Act.)
October 21, 2025 at 6:50 PM
If we want to preserve cultural hubs like Scooby Doo in Ward 1, maintain affordable housing, and keep people from getting displaced, we need to guarantee TOPA rights & eviction protections.

I hope the Council adopts @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social's
amendment to the RENTAL Act.
D.C.’s Scooby Doo Mansion became an arts hub. A sale could change that.
The housemates are fighting to preserve the mansion as a community arts hub, but recent action by the D.C. Council has made them unsure of their tenant rights.

Today, the Council is voting on a last-minute amendment to the RENTAL Act — one that could strip rights from thousands of tenants living in 2-4 unit buildings.

When we exempted single-family units from TOPA, there was a 7-hour hearing with hundreds testifying. Tenants deserve no less now.

Exciting news! Workers in some of the most music venues in DC are organizing for better pay, respect, and working conditions.

Solidarity! I can't wait to see a show or go to an event at a union venue in Ward 1 😊 🎸✊🏾

Workers take steps to unionize at four D.C. music venues, including 9:30 Club
Staff members at the Anthem, Lincoln Theatre, the Atlantis and the 9:30 Club presented petitions to production company I.M.P. on Monday. They criticized conditions and wages at the locations.
