23,955 people in House District 102 who rely on SNAP assistance are losing access to groceries. Texas has a 28 billion dollar “Rainy Day Fund” set aside for unexpected expenses. This is exactly the type of emergency that we should be using that funding for. #HD102 #SNAP

A Texas lawmaker and Pentecostal pastor left his post for a seat a few inches from Donald Trump's ear.

Like much of contemporary MAGA politics, this story starts with the new Religious Right and crests on January 6.

When you’re out celebrating tonight, remember that there’s nothing scarier than 4 more years of Greg Abbott stealing your money for payouts to his wealthy donors.

All of this is true enough as far as it goes. But even more problematic is the fact that when the U.S. Coast Guard interdicts suspect vessels, boarding and searching for drugs, a quarter of the time they find no contraband.

We're not just murdering drug smugglers.
We are murdering innocent people.
Rep. Adam Smith: "This country has not agreed to have the death penalty for drug smuggling. If we want to have that policy conversation, we can have that policy conversation, but the president has unilaterally decided that lethal force is going to be applied. It's an enormous expansion of power."

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said that when activists sent a casket on her lawn, it was a threat on her life.

But painted on casket itself was a very important clue to their likely intent, the hashtag #SayHerName

I wrote about the history of symbolic caskets used in protest *against* violence.

One in eight Americans will struggle to put food on the table if the Trump shutdown extends through next week.

Yet Republicans in Congress are nowhere to be found.

You are the losers of this era, the organizations that will — if you remain in existence at all after this is done — forever need to explain why, in the moment when your institutional stature both provided you the most protection and gave you the clearest reasons to push back, you failed to do so.

It’s very Newspeak and 1984-ish to say “antifa.” Aside from the fact that no organization with that name even exists—when we say “anti-fascist” instead, we are explicit about the existence of fascist actors and people who oppose them. The word “antifa” is a tool of the fascists.

This allows justices to effectively make rulings in secret without explaining their decisions.

Is it any wonder why so many do not trust the Roberts court?
