People did warn me when I was younger to pursue high-paying fields, and I always shrugged them off. I thought, “I’m not a materialistic person, I don’t want to live in luxury—I’ll be fine making a modest salary. Money’s not important to me.”

little known fact about my trot is that whenever sweet barbara gets home from the frozen lake i go and stand out on the front porch to greet and say hello. if you can, i think it is really nice to take a moment and have a gesture to say 'this meeting happens all the time but i still appreciate it'
