The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The least most politically engaged people I know are texting me before 8am to say, “we won’t forget.”
So I don’t know man.

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

While we're at it, why do we pay for a fire department when most houses don't even burn down.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.
In under 1600 words.

one thing I love about modern UI design is the lack of error messages. Ideally, the user should have no idea why their app is malfunctioning or what they can do to fix it. this is how a phone asserts dominance.

I keep getting asked if it’s legal to spend our campaign funds on food drives or our high school public service grants and the answer is YES. It is.
Politicians and Democratic organizations need to use their coffers to help people NOW and fill in the gaps that Trump has created.

if dems want messaging help, stop telling people you're "fighting back." it sounds like you're being mugged. call off the podcaster search, take your ridiculous money pile and try opening some food banks and free clinics. hurricanes are coming and the feds have no plan. looks like an opening to me.
