This is how the Mexican American War started. It wasn’t an accident then either.

DOD contractors “mistakenly” landed on a Mexican beach, declared it US property and planted “restricted area” DOD signs, triggering a tense confrontation with armed Mexican forces.

Mexico removed the signs, insisting the area is theirs.

Yet another example of total incompetence.

A CDC webpage that once stated unequivocally that vaccines do not cause autism has been rewritten, now suggesting without evidence that health authorities “ignored” possible links between the shots and autism.
Without evidence, CDC changes messaging on vaccines and autism
On Wednesday, the agency reversed its long-held position that there's no link between vaccines and autism. Outside experts said they are "appalled" by the change.

Breaking: The FCC has voted 2-1 along party lines to eliminate cybersecurity requirements for telecom companies that the commission adopted at the end of the Biden administration.

Telecoms had lobbied for the change. Democrats said it would invite another Salt Typhoon.

Story coming shortly.

when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

Be really interesting for the Supreme Court to conclude that non-US citizens or permanent residents in the country are somehow “not subject to its jurisdiction”. Feels like that would be quite a good way to get away with murder! “Yeah but I’m not subject to your jurisdiction!”
DOJ submitted a sweeping petition to the Supreme Court late Friday, asking the justices to uphold President Donald Trump’s controversial executive order that would deny birthright citizenship to children born in the United States, if neither parent is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

I don’t know about you, but I’m still sort of processing that the US president stood up in the UN and declared that London is about to be under Sharia law, and the response has been “actually, that won’t happen” rather than “Jesus, that is insane.”
