Happy Sinck Tuck!
It is often celebrated around the time of the Winter Solstice. Sinck Tuck marks the halfway point of the long Canadian winter in the Arctic.
This is its history!

3/ Mrs. Leonard said she’d never forgotten that and wasn’t surprised I grew up to be a defender of women’s equality.

(Of course I didn’t mention that when I first chose the book I thought “Little Women” was about 4 girls who get shrunk to micro-sized so they can solve some kind of crime). 🤷‍♂️

The last thing I want is for the welfare of the less fortunate be left to the charity of Albertans. What those fuckers post online, and it’s hateful & despicable.

Also: “We’ll give you some soup if you accept Jesus/The Great Pumpkin/Flying Spaghetti Monster as your saviour.”

Keep welfare secular!
"Progressive" - the belief that govt has a moral obligation to build, maintain, and steward public institutions for the common good, rather than burning them down in the name of "freedom" and profit.

Opinion: Albertans' well-being shouldn't be left to charities
We do not need to "restore" the role of charity in basic health care and education.

“This view is held by a vast majority of Albertans and Canadians”?!?! Is that right, Danielle?

I believe the VAST MAJORITY of Albertans and Canadians would very much like you to go to your vacation home in Panama and never, ever come back…like a bad smell.

I hate this person. HATE. HER.

I just want to use my ACTUAL HUMAN BRAIN.

Me: Oh?
James: St. Mary Magdalene? Really??? Someone is actually pretending to be Mary Magdalene????
Me: Do I pretend to be St. John the Baptist?
James: Huh? (Looks again) Oh. It’s a church. Yeah, that makes more sense.

Reader, I married him.

Lots of Albertans are feeding the very toxicity they're fed up with right now.

There are better ways to channel your frustration. 10, in fact.

Every day, I get letters demanding that the federal govt or the GG or the LG “do something” to change or save Alberta. But the only people who can “fix” Alberta are Albertans. There is no magic constitutional genie. The responsibility is on all of us.
The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

By simply being Albertan.

Let me explain. 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

I arrived home while #DailyChester was out for a walk. When he came home he could smell that I was there and was anxious to come find me, but had to wait for James to take his boots off. And that’s all he waits to have taken off him.

You can see his tail wagging excitedly in the mirror.

The number of Canadians that want to flirt with “Fascism Lite”.

It’s where you are horrified by what is happening in the U.S. and loathe everything about Donald Trump….but think maybe the Canadian Conservative Party is on to something with their “war on woke” and should be given a chance.

This is among the most democratically dangerous things Danielle Smith has said.

She wants to remove all checks and balances on her power and projects herself as the embodiment of "the people."

We have left the realm of liberal democracy in this province.
Smith doubled down on her anti court rhetoric today...

She even seemed to suggest that federally appointed judges couldn't render impartial rulings and that she believed her interpretation should always be above theirs.

You can goad Canadians with this “51st state” bullshit and get our goobers all frothy & aroused, and we’ll just roll our eyes.

But if you continue to fuck with Franklin, we *will* unleash the squadrons of cobra chickens.

Govern yourselves accordingly.

We’re not fucking around,

There's a lot of changes with our refocusing of healthcare and now our new two tier healthcare model.

So I issued a sole-source contract to author a book all Albertans, regardless of age or political stripe, will be able to read.
