CDMX rules. I’m walking 7-9 miles a day. The architecture is interesting and beautiful. Public transit runs frequently. Abundant protected bike lanes. A dozen parks like Washington Square and Prospect Park but with tropical plants.

Congestion Pricing Settlement Stalls Between New York and New Jersey (Gift Article)
Gov. Kathy Hochul said New York offered New Jersey “generous” incentives to settle its lawsuit against the tolling plan. A judge could soon determine the program’s fate.

I'm so glad I got rid of my car. I wish society rallied more around public transportation and walking. It's cost effective, eco friendly, healthier, and you actually notice more stores/eateries/scenery/humanity happening.

Chicago Concrete Post Company, 1924:
“Smashing automobiles? Yes, — but saving lives.”

Silent policemen were no flexposts. When “protecting pedestrians” was the end, unyielding mass was the means. That’s automatic enforcement our best tech today can’t match.

I would love it if people talked about disability access, universal design, and the citizen’s fundamental right to the city more often—not just when the Department of Transportation wants to install a speed bump.

"Sometimes, a shop owner claims his business was ruined because the city removed 4 parking spaces. With surveys, our mayor can say: ‘6,000 more people pass your shop a day thanks to a new bike lane. Are you sure you’re a good businessman?’”

Emphatically.
The cyclist didn't just die. He was hit and killed. He didn't crash on his own. He was hit. I'm once again begging journalists to correctly describe crashes where drivers kill cyclists.

I freaking love these.

Cute little row houses like these would sell like hotcakes in Sunbelt cities if they were actually legal to build as infill. The market wants gentile density, we just need the cities to let us build!

More raised crosswalks, please.
Creative, if somewhat unusual, traffic calming treatment at an uncontrolled crosswalk outside West Annapolis Elementary.

This probably cost ~$15k to implement and raised yield rates by a factor of 5.
