I used to work for Harris Teeter in Easton, MD. They did this price tag scam constantly. I would pull down the "bad signs" in my department when I saw them but they would end up back where they were more often than not. You really don't know the half of it. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Inflation is on the rise — particularly at the grocery store.
