I design solutions for media and entertainment but I'm here for political news. I also enjoy powerlifting + getting loaded and listening to good music. No one who has ever employed me would let me express even the most trivial opinion on their behalf
Oh hell yeah. Daddy's getting some pudding in 2026

Enough please of the "but Farage is a master politician/communicator" trope.
Sad truth is, there's always been a significant appetite for selfishness and bigotry. It just needed someone shameless and venal enough to pander to it. And a media shallow enough to prioritise the viewing figures.

It really is hard to overstate how amazing the Gameboy felt in 1989 as an 11 year old. Tetris, Super Mario World, the portability and battery life, all mind blowing for the time.

The few colour handhelds around the same time were impressive sure, but somehow just not it.
I didn't realize until recently that the original Game Boy came out in 1989 and wasn't succeeded by the Game Boy Color until goddamn 1998. That's roughly nine years of black and white portable gaming being the de facto standard!

And I thought the 3DS lasted too long.

An elegant and splendlidly contemptuous swatting of the horribly contemptible and profoundly dishonest Farage - and a very good dig at Farage's Trumpian "lowest grade presenter" jibe at Ms Barnett for skewering him so effectively.

Well done, Alan Rusbridger!

now that it's back in the news, a reminder that Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile is such a satisfying mock-doc because it speaks more clearly about Trump/Epstein than basically any news coverage (even though it's joking) www.avclub.com/jeffrey-epst...
Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile writes a damning birthday note to the true-crime industry
The Onion mockumentary Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile asks and answers hard-hitting questions about a news cycle almost beyond parody.

SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

This article was so bad the Times have removed it.
Totally untrue garbage from @thetimes.com & @dailymail.co.uk today - smear dressed up as journalism. Some facts:
- There is no “£900 desk”
- my constituency office has Ikea desks/chairs
- we significantly underspent the new MPs allowance to set up an office
www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...
Treasury minister leading budget plans spent £900 on desk
Torsten Bell, who is working with Rachel Reeves to fill a £30 billion hole in finances, also used his parliamentary expenses to claim £600 for three chairs

The first question every journalist who cares about accountability and responsibility should ask this “risign star” is “why do you want to make the conservatives more far right on immigration than the BNP or Enoch Powell?” bsky.app/profile/sund...
Sunday Times interview Tory "rising star" Katie Lam

She is clear she wants lots of legal migrants to be told to "go home" so as "to leave a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people"

(The interviewer suggests she is scrapping ILR or stripping people of it)

I genuinely find this very worrying, as someone with settled status! sure, Lam probably won't be home secretary tomorrow, but the mood music is changing, you can feel it, and I just don't trust Labour to fight like hell on our behalf, so unclear where this is going to go
Lam hears "settled status" and "guaranteed by withdrawal treaty" as up for grabs:understood to be temporary "provisional arrangements" which can be transitional and unsettled if and when you want to

That is highly counterintuitive as language of 'settled', as law & as politics of Treaty guarantees.

This is such a important point. Social media means that people know the value of flashy stuff like watches etc I've never been to a city where it was a smart idea to walk around obviously holding thousands of pounds because that's a massive amount of money for desperate folks.
