Whatever the problem, the answer is solar + batteries.

Puberty blockers save young lives. This govt is literally admitting it's about anti-"woke" (their word) ideology. Which is why cis kids can still access them!

I'm begging you to take 3 min to write your MP, write to Labour MPs 🙏

Our dead kid rate is high enough tbh

I don’t know how to make my voice heard on this.

So true - the South Island tax - either crossing goods from manufacturing in the North or vise versa - the short termism small saving choice by Nicky no boats will be paid repeatedly on cost of construction & travel for generations.
So “the taxpayer” has allegedly been saved a few billion $, but everyone who travels by ferry and who relies on inter-island freight will just have to pay more for that

And that Venn diagram is a circle

And now with the Regulatory Standards Bill in place - when we do pivot to renewables ( as we will eventually) we will have to compensate the gas importers / suppliers for lost revenue.

We’ve been scammed big time

"We're at a crossroads here. We could have this low-cost renewables future but we're snatching defeat from the jaws of victory," says Fuge.

The fuel of ‘last resort’: How imported gas became New Zealand’s first choice
It's expensive, vulnerable to price shocks and terrible for the planet. So why are we importing gas?

Excellent thread - AoNZ we have a deep problem - cruelty is celebrated as leadership
- legitimised, minimised & cover for cruel behaviour - name suppression & dismissal of cases. For a moment we saw a diff type of leadership - even then backlash amplified, attacks minimised & dismissed

New paper on the fatal consequences of job loss using 🇫🇮 administrative data: "For every 100,000 displaced men, there are 1,100 additional deaths. 60% accrue to the displaced worker, 40% are due to excess spousal mortality.. no such dire consequences are observed after a woman’s job loss"

More than that, countries broadly following the (Nordic) Social Democratic model are at or very near the top of practically every measurement of societal achievement _ever devised_.

All measurements have issues and any one statistic could be flawed.

But when they all point to the same direction…
Finland tops the global happiness index, which suggests that other countries should use it as a model.

Mark Mitchell says 36 emails were sent to his office but also that a protocol had been put in place by the Police Commissioner's office to prevent him seeing them.

I'd love a journo to ask:

1. When was the protocol put in place?
2. When did Mark Mitchell become aware of the protocol?

Honestly, the IPCA report into the police (mis)handling of the McSkimming case makes for jaw-dropping reading.

But it’s 135 pages long so I’ve read it for you.

Here’s my report on one of the most serious failures of integrity in modern policing history⬇️⬇️
The inside story of how police protected a senior cop, and prosecuted his accuser instead
For years, police leadership ignored warnings about Jevon McSkimming. The IPCA has set out the chain of failures.

At what point do we publicly accept that NZ is deeply corrupt and the only reason why we don’t have a culture of direct payoffs and bribery (that we cite as the evidence for us not being corrupt) is because it’s not needed? The boys club gets what it wants through people playing their social roles.
