Zohran's approach: being real, honest, and treating voters like adults and, more importantly, the way it's landing, are proof of the possibility I've always known. Like decisions in COVID to provide financial relief or close borders, govt can do anything if it tries #nzpol

Labour CGT: progess over perfection. Great to have it on the table. We can build on it later. Connecting it directly to free doctors visits is good. Progress over perfection. Let's keep moving. What's next? #nzpol

If I could change one thing about political reporting in New Zealand it would be the reflex to treat policy criticism from the political opposition as not only meaningful but the most important thing.

Totally with @yadana.bsky.social here. Cities like Sydney have been doing integrated ticketing for over a decade. Also Cable Car retired Snapper in expectation of the 2026 rollout. Another embarrassing example of NZ failing at simple infrastructure.

‘Getting ridiculous’: Councillor slams ticketing delays
A Wellington regional councillor says 17 years is too long to wait for national ticketing, as NZTA delays the city’s rollout to 2027.

I got involved in Labour around the time of the asset sales (the power companies). Pretty funny to see the predictions play out exactly as called. We fucked around and found out. #nzpol

Auckland needs more places to sit, and come together peacefully. We need more parks like Albert where you can enjoy the weather, watch the world pass by, catch up with friends. Replacing ports of Auckland with a native forest park and ocean pools needs to happen asap. #nzpol

Kinda crazy how underutilised the space at the Michael Parekowhai Lighthouse is. Prime real estate and just a few seats?

New Zealand couldn't even do the conditional recognition of Palestine like our colonisers did. I don't know who this position is in service of, but it's not the Palestinian people or in righting the wrongs of our colonial past. Ready to march. #nzpol

Someone do this in New Zealand. Sit in bars. Go out of the house after 5pm.
Laurie Cooper, an influencer, goes out in New York City seven nights a week and doles out advice and recommendations to her followers. Her latest missive has sent singles flocking to bar stools. It's “Sit at the Bar September.” nyti.ms/46Fxk6X

Is it controversial to say fuck special character areas??? Tired of our city being held hostage by a few people who decided to live in a city but selfishly refuse to let it grow to support ALL of Auckland. #nzpol

Barbara Edmonds had got it. A little nervous perhaps but absolutely has great style, substance, and intellect. Suuuuper excited to see her shine on a national stage. Give her more opportunities to get face time and confidence and she'll be away. #nzpol

New Zealand's vibe is dead. We desperately need arts, culture, and events. While they're focusing on overseas acts already (great), the government must adequately invest in local arts and culture programming. Even back to 2021 before I left the sector was in a crisis. You want a vibe? Fund it #nzpol
