I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

#sciart friends (and art friends more broadly)- what's the process like for getting prints made of paintings? A local store is interested in some of my art but I've never actually had prints made, so I'm a little intimidated.

“Leif,” the dagger from the Noss Saga, is now real. I’m taking this dagger out on a roadtrip now, and already got some killer cosplay pics with it (coming soon!).

For #LegendaryWednesday's bird theme, dodomeki are not actually a bird but rather a #yokai appearing as a woman whose arms are covered in bird's eyes.
In #JapaneseFolklore dodomeki (many-eyed demons) are a #yokai appearing as women with their arms covered in bird's eyes. These yokai were once human girls or women who stole money and were cursed as punishment causing one hundred bird's eyes to sprout on their arms thus...

Fun fact: I drew this like two years ago and painted the octopus purple. But I thought purple looked corny so I painted over him teal. But then I realized he was the color of Squidward Tentacles and I got mad and stopped and forgot about this piece until now.

Hoping if any journalists are doing end-of-year Top 10 Lists of Bluesky Feeds, they’ll consider the SciArt Feed 🐡.

One of the oldest Feeds on Bluesky: a curated list of contributors to keep AI out; and the 4th most popular Feed in both Science and Art.

Gonna say it again. If you are someone who is lonely and has no one to talk to, for the love, DM me, a real human who will listen before you message an AI bot.

Working on invertebrate #paleoart at the moment, knowing I'm probably making mistakes despite best efforts, consulting primary literature etc. Inverts are much like fossil plants: there are few accessible resources on their appearance so we must wing it, or go down deep rabbit holes to restore them.
